I can reproduce it 100% with the above steps.
It entered an infinite loop in the handshake, https://github.com/tokio-rs/tls/blob/master/tokio-rustls/src/common/mod.rs#L205
at this time self.eof = false, self.session.is_handshaking() = true, self.session.wants_read() = false.
This seems to be caused by rustls's change behavior, because the previous version could not reproduce it.

Yeah, the I/O handling on the rustls side changed, not sure how we missed that during the update PRs.
