autopilotdemo's Issues

Kustomizing app configuration for a project

Hi

I've been following your autopilot tutorial, however I'm a little lost when it comes to overriding values such as namespace, replicas or other config settings at a project (envrionment) level.

In your tutorial you point to a remote repository for the demo app and then create a staging and prod project.

What I'm a little unsure about is where and how you deal with creating environment level overrides for your app config. Does this get done in your app repository or is it done in the central autopilot bootstrapped repository?

Also following your example of staging and prod, would you create the overlays in the demoapp repo and then point to the project (environment) specific overlay when you run your argocd-autopilot app create command or do you point to the base kustomization.yaml for your app and then create the overrides in the autopilot repo?

The problem I've seen is if change something in the base of your app, e.g. the deployment.yaml or ingress.yaml or the base kustomization.yaml, it doesn't see the changes when the overlays are created in your autopilot repo i.e. by pointing to the base in your app repo.

However if you create your app in autopilot using the specific overlays for that project in your app repo it, it syncs changes from the base of the app repo.

I hope that makes sense, and thanks in advance :)

Andy
