home-assistant-assist-desktop's Issues

Change hotkey for assist and voice assist piplines

Alt+A and Alt+Shift+A work, but in some scenarios these get in the way. I found this during a game, alt+a was very easy to trigger and I ended up closing assist desktop, but this could be changed to avoid the need to do this

Initial setup stuck on settings

When I start the application on my Mac it hangs on the config screen. I enter URL and token, but when I click save nothing happens.

Drag window from empty space/background

Currently the window is fixed in the center, the frame decorations are also removed so the only way to move the window would be to potentially use the empty space or the whole window to drag around the window. Unsure how this can be done in tauri

global-hotkey lacks support for wayland compositors and panics on startup when attempting to register the hotkey

Cannot get default EGL display: EGL_BAD_PARAMETER
WaylandCompositor requires eglCreateImage and eglDestroyImage.
Nested Wayland compositor could not initialize EGL
thread 'main' panicked at src/main.rs:278:18:
failed to register Alt+A shortcut: GlobalShortcut(InvalidAccelerator("Unable to register global shortcut"))
note: run with `RUST_BACKTRACE=1` environment variable to display a backtrace

I feel like it would be better to note this app only supports x11 or allow the registration to fail and just run without shortcut support.

a proper fix has to wait untill Tauri fixes this issue tauri-apps/global-hotkey#28

Visually not optimal on KDE/Plasma desktop

Hi!

I want to run this app on my KDE/Plasma desktop. The app does work, but visually the UI is not optimal.

  • The font is too large
  • The scrollbar is almost always displayed, because only 3 lines of conversations fit on the screen
  • Unable to move the window around

I'll try to provide some info to resolve these issues.

Wake word support

Looking to implement openwakeword, this would probably require converting the application to use the wyoming protocol

Data Directory doesn't follow installed location

I installed this software using an administrator account, but I can't run it using my normal user account. I get the following error:

Assist on PC Error

During the installation, I changed the folder where the software was to be installed, putting it in "C:\Users\Program Files\Home Assistant Assist". The data directory seems to be hard-coded.

I also didn't get the "Home Assistant" folder created on my normal account Start Button.

Package as Flatpak for Flathub?

It'd be great to get this as a Flatpak so it can be trivially discovered and installed across all Linux desktops—including in the Steam Deck desktop's app store. :)
