i18n

Make the extension to follow the language of Gnome.

Write automated tests

There isn't any kind of test on the project so far. It would be good to have:

  • unit tests
  • install automated test
  • GTK automated test

Deal with duplicates

Instead of giving up if duplicates names are found, make a dialog box to:

  • Inform about the duplicate name
  • Allow the user to rename the link (Entry and Button "Rename")
  • Allow to replace the current with the link
  • Allow to replace all following with their link
  • Skip the duplicate
  • Skip all following duplicates
  • Cancel the process

This should be like a planning stage, only after all duplicates been dealt the actual operation should be performed.

Fix Documentation

The README file has some rendering errors and inconsistencies:

  • <Shift><Control> is being interpreted as HTML tags so <Shift><Control>V is shown as V
  • The implementation actually doesn't rely on pyperclip

Message Dialog for exceptions

Don't let the exceptions go silently without any feedback to the user. Create a Message Dialog to unexpected exceptions.

Deal with diffferent mount points

It is not possible to create a hard link from a file on a different mount point.

  • Since it seems not possible to deactivate the Menu Item, it should be hidden;
  • If the user insist with the shortcut it would be sensible show a Message Dialog informing the problem

Adequate log

Stop using the print function and use a logging lib.

Completion widget

When the menu item is clicked or the shortcut invoked, maybe is a good thing to show a widget informing how the batch is being processed.

  • Inform each one being created at the moment
  • Show the completed fraction (show percentage not actity mode)
  • Cancel Button

Port to GTK4

Create a version compatible with GTK4 and Nautilus Extensions for Nautilus 43.beta+
