As I mentioned in #188, I can provide a patch, depending on what you prefer. Autodiscovery is still relatively new and requires setuptools >= 61.0.0. So defining includes or exludes or reverting the change all together may be the saver more compatible bet.

It is possible to exclude things like suite in .whl and include in sdist.
Nevertheless I'm not using sdist do build my rpm package(only autogenerated from git tag tar ball).

I've pushed version 1.12.12 to PyPI/github which goes back to having the tests in the source tar/zip and not in the .whl/tar. I'll be happy to accept a PR if this still isn't what you need ;-)
