Disk image for ChromeOS armv7a devices

ChromeOS devices need:

  • GPT disk label
  • "ChromeOS" partitions
  • cgpt(8) tool to manage the boot order
  • FIT .itb
  • vbutil_kernel

Should be easy to test on a Series 3 as it has a SD card slot, will need USB for HP 11...

quick start (2022-07)

  1. compile a kernel, if necessary pointing make's KDIR= to it
  2. mainline
linux$ make multi_v7_defconfig
linux$ make uImage dtbs modules LOADADDR=0x8000
linux$ make INSTALL_MOD_PATH="tar-install" modules_install
  1. parallella
linux$ make parallella_defconfig
linux$ make uImage dtbs modules LOADADDR=0x8000
linux$ make INSTALL_MOD_PATH="tar-install" modules_install

Then once you have a stage tarball

  1. mainline:
armstrong$ make # microserver and headless
armstrong$ make VERSION=hdmi
  1. parallella:
armstrong$ make VERSION=microserver DTB=zynq-parallella-microserver.dtb
armstrong$ make DTB=zynq-parallella-headless
armstrong$ make VERSION=hdmi
