Thanks for the great launcher it replaced KISS for me that I had been using for more than a year.
One thing that bothers me a bit though is that the font can be hard to read when it's white on white or black on black.

The simple fix is to switch the font between the two but some wallpapers have both white and black so the font is really hard to read regardless of the color.

So I think being able to add a border to font should help with this.

Some searches have multiple matches & you have to click on the application instead. Bottom search bar would be better on large screen phones in such cases.

First of all, great work on the launcher! I find extremely refreshing to have the interface so minimal - and I'm saying this coming from Niagara launcher! Also, very happy to see it as open source!

Anyway, I would like to request the ability to have a daily image set as wallpaper and/or lock screen image, or to have either of them static. Say, for example, that I'd like to have a picture of my family on my phone where I see them very often, but then have another wallpaper change every day for variation. It shouldn't interfere with the simplicity of the launcher, right? 😊

I stumbled upon this launcher when searching for a FOSS launcher for my new phone. I'm loving the minimal design!

As a quality of life suggestion I would love to hide some apps in the "all apps" view.
This is generally related to #37. Personally, I'd love it to just scroll to the app I want to use instead of type to search for it.

Disclaimer: I'm not sure how to implement such a feature and not break the minimal settings menu.

Great to have separate work apps. But following bug/issues.

• Some apps from work profile could not be added to home screen.
• Work profile apps cannot be distinguished from normal apps on the home screens.

Hi, and congratulations for this great launcher.
I want to suggest something: is it possible to add support for folders. For exemple, in the first menu, there is a folder named "Messaging" and when click on it, a secondary menu replaces it with "ProtonMail", "Signal". And swipe left could return on the first menu.
What do you think about that?

I prefer the UI in pre-v2.1. Could we have the option to turn the status bar off and show the larger time and date like in v2 0 and prior versions?

Currently to un-hide hidden drawer apps, one must clear app storage.
An option to repopulate app drawer with hidden apps in the launcher settings menu would be helpful.

Have a scroll bar in the app list for quick and easy one hand navigating.

Your launcher is amazing, it similar to the launcher I'm currently using a decluttered launcher. If possible could you add a few simple things that would definitely make this launcher stand out.

If you tried a decluttered launcher
You will notice the similarity and how convenient it is to swipe down for the browser of your choice. Swiping left & right to launch the app of your choice. As well tapping the calendar & clock to launch the app of your choice.

Add list

• Option to Disable swipe down notifications center ( in place of Swipe down to search the internet (launch users default internet browser, we all use different browsers
• Swipe left & right to open custom apps and the option to disable swiping left & right
• Launch custom apps with calendar & clock
• Rename apps on the home screen
• If possible,  Hide specific apps in the app Drawer ( some apps run in the background and do not need to be in the App Drawer)

I notice others have requested 1 or 2 feature from my list. They were rejected do to a lack of request. Unfortunately not many people know of this amazing launcher or like minimalist launchers. If its funding you need to get these feature add to the launcher that's not a problem.

Maybe add an option to show status bar. Currently, after unlocking (biometric), I have to open the notification panel to check for notifications. They don't show up when the screen is locked for obvious reasons so it's just an annoyance.

If status bar is shown then users can just check for notifications there.

I love Olauncher, but I was wondering if you'd consider using a bold/heavy font weight by default—or at least allow choosing a font weight. The left alignment combined with a bold font would give a nice Swiss Style typographic look.

It could also make it easier to read for some folks, especially depending on their wallpaper.

Issue: Oxygen OS has a feature called Parallel Apps that allows certain apps to be run with multiple accounts. For example, for WhatsApp, the default Oxygen OS launcher displays two different apps with the same name, but different logos, to help distinguish between them.

However, OLauncher only displays a single entry for WhatsApp, and clicking that entry opens a System UI dialog to allow the user to choose between them. Although this works, it's not ideal, as the user is forced to wait for the System UI dialog to pop open and then choose the correct version of WhatsApp.

Suggestion: Display two different entries for the parallel app with a (Parallel) text next to the second entry to help differentiate between them.

Steps to Reproduce:

• Enable parallel apps in system settings on an Oxygen OS ROM
• Open the parallel app in OLauncher to see the System UI dialog.

A nice touch could be briefly showing the names of the swipe left/swipe right apps at the bottom of the screen, near their respective side—so by default, camera at the bottom-right and phone at the bottom-left. They could fade out after a moment to keep the uncluttered look.

This would remind new folks of the default swipe actions, and would be a nice reminder for existing folks, especially if they've set custom actions and might forget what they set.

This is similar to the Google Assistant corner gesture on my Pixel 3, where it reminds you how to do something but then gets out of the way.

I can provide a mockup if my description is unclear.

Probably a bug? I tried daily wallpaper but prefer black background. Turning wallpaper off won't disable it.

Hi, I just switched from "before launcher" (propriatery android launcher) to 0Launcher and I love the UI and the fact that it's open source.

However, as I usually use more than 8 apps on a daily basis (about 14 with all the different messaging apps) I miss the ability to see more than 8 apps on the main screen.

One way to make this possible would be to put in the settings and option to decrease the font size, so that more apps can fit and be pinned on the main screen.

Another thing that I would love to see is the ability to still see the top status bar, so that I can see if I'm connected to wifi, 4G or in airplane mode. This could ideally be toggled in the settings menu.
EDIT : I didn't have the latest version of the app so this last comment is irrelevant now

An option to change the background in the settings, so that you dont have do go in the devices settings.
Because the background is a primary part of the launchers design, it would makes sense to addthe option in the launcher.

Really appreciate the addition of work apps! Just wanted to notify you that when I open my work profile Whatsapp and work profile Instagram, Olauncher crashes. Video attached.

After the latest update in the fdroid store, version 1.5, the shortcuts in the homescreen weren't working anymore. Restarting Olauncher didn't help. I had to remap them.
Just a note if more people experience this and maybe this can be prevented in future releases.

Searching for "ff" currently doesn't list "Firefox" or "Firefox Klar". I know this was requested in #9 point 5, I agree that searching for "ff" should prioritize "FFUpdater".

Maybe add an option for fuzzy searching or just de-prioritize fuzzy matches?

It would save the swipe up. The superflous motion moves the thumbs away from the keyboard and is distracting. (see KISS launcher how search and keyboard are handled there for inspiration)

Would you think about adding Shortcuts somehow? Enabling them in search would be a functional way i suppose.
I have some apps Containerised in Shelter.

Issue: After double tapping on the home screen to lock, the phone can only be unlocked using PIN/Pattern lock, not fingerprint authentication. Using the fingerprint opens the device PIN/Pattern unlock screen with the message "Device locked by admin".

Steps to Reproduce:

• Enable fingerprint locking in launcher settings
• Lock screen by double tapping
• Try to unlock using fingerprint

I would like to wake up every morning to a different wallpaper but at the moment i cant specify a time for the daily wallpaper to update.

Currently applications have to be an exact match when selecting them using the keyboard, so for example, you have to type "f-droid" for F-Droid to be a match (F-) is usually enough.

This is a bit annoying, since you have to switch between characters of the alphabet (default keyboard layout) and the special characters.

What I propose is to match any characters of an app and maybe prioritise those that are together.

So ideally F-Droid could be found either by typing "F-" or "fdroid". The same principle would apply to other apps of course.

1.) A "scroll up & down gesture with fade animation" to switch list of apps at the home screen. Maximum of 8 or 10 total apps, while maintaining the minimal look by just showing 4 or 5 apps in each list.

• I was thinking, if I needed fast and easy access for more apps at the home screen (like maximum of 8 apps) rather than always relying on the app drawer, while also maintaining the minimal look, 4 apps should be shown and 4 apps will be hidden or switchable with a fade animation by a scroll up and down gesture.

• The same with a maximum of 10 apps, 5 apps (shown), 5 apps (hidden).

• Half the total apps (shown or hidden), so that every hidden app will fit in the list and will be shown with just a flick of a finger, while not cluttering the home screen with texts.

• Should only be scrollable within the list of apps. Shouldn't overlap or conflict with the other scroll up and down gestures.

• Range of the gesture should also reach the rightmost part of the screen.

• When it reaches the end of the scroll up and down gestures and the gesture is repeated, it should default back to prioritizing the scroll up gesture for the app drawer and the scroll down gesture for showing the notification panel.

• Right and Left scroll gestures should still work anywhere on the home screen. The free or empty spaces above and below is for the scroll up and down gestures of the app drawer and showing the notification panel.

• The "fade animation" I mentioned is the same animation used when long pressing Olauncher home screen. I wanted scroll animations at first, but that fade animation looks better.

2.) The apps on the home screen should also be tapped or selected at the "rightmost part of the screen".

• So that we don't have to stretch our right thumbs to tap and reach the apps.

• If possible, include an animation like those default ripple touch animation or any snappy touch animation, with a disable option. Since we'll be tapping at an empty space of the right side. The disable option is for those who don't want touch animations.

• Also animate the touches on apps at the app drawer, if you ever decide to add touch animations.

3.) Custom fonts

• An option to add our own custom fonts by maybe adding .ttf files to Olauncher? Is that possible or gonna work?

• This will make Olauncher even more appealing and standout among others. I really wish this can be done, intuitive, minimal looking, beautiful fonts with a beautiful wallpaper is my ideal home launcher.

4.) An option to apply white border for Olauncher's black text color option and a black border for the white text color option.

• So that texts are still readable with the same colored wallpapers.

5.) Sort the app drawer "search results" by Best Match, not by Name, Title or not by keywords found in random apps.

• Like searching for MALClient. Search keyword used is "ma".

Search results are:

Automate
File Manager
Gmail
MALClient

• Should only show MALClient.

• Shouldn't show random apps, with names or titles that doesn't begin with the keyword used.

6.) Skip "symbols" when searching for an app in the app drawer.

• Like searching just "fdroid", skipping "-" symbol, would bring up "F-Droid" in the search result.

• Having to switch the keyboard layout to symbols is a delay.

7.) Better compatibility in adding extra shortcuts from their main apps.

• Like adding "Private Browsing" shortcut from Firefox Beta. Olauncher doesn't add or support it.

• Maybe because its destination is the home screen? Can you trick apps to treat the app drawer as a home screen for these type of functions or shortcuts?

8.) Be able to convert those one tap widgets as texts for Olauncher???

• Would be fine if it isn't a feature, but just instructions in GitHub on how to add or convert those widgets that functions only with taps. Like "Greenify's Hibernate Widget" or a "Flashlight Widget", etc.

9.) Custom apps or functionality for scroll down, right & left gestures, with the exception of scroll up.

• Like scroll down to "Show Notification Panel + Clear Notifications".

• Scroll right or left to open selected apps.

10.) Place the search bar and search results on the app drawer a bit higher.

• With the keyboard (OpenBoard) always covering the search results, I can only tap and see 2 ½ apps on my screen.

11.) Improve scrolling on the app drawer while keyboard is shown.

• It always bounces up and down, then keyboard disappears and app drawer covers or skips the first four apps when I scroll it.

• I flick scroll it and sometimes it goes back to the home screen. Scrolling isn't smooth on the app drawer when keyboard is shown.

12.) Selecting wallpaper

• Other users have requested this, but switching wallpapers is very glitchy of a task for me.

• I change Olauncher wallpapers by setting the wallpaper first on other Launchers or by choosing "Set as wallpaper" in Simple Gallery app, then switch back to use Olauncher.

Results are:

• Wallpaper doesn't change.
• Only navigation bar is showing the new wallpaper.
• It crashed.

Fixed it by:

• Temporarily hibernating Olauncher using Greenify. Now it shows the new wallpaper. (Not sure if a reboot fixes it, will not attempt anymore)

I intended to "Force close" Olauncher, but I didn't know at the time that it was protected as a Device Administrator (for double tap to lock option), so I couldn't tap force close. I also couldn't clear data, which is fine.

13.) Include default images or wallpapers shown in the sample pics at GitHub and Playstore.

• They really look good, any links? Where can I download them in high quality?

• New users might be installing the app for the sake of trying those wallpapers and designs, in the sample pics.

14.) Almost forgot this, please add support for landscape mode.

Other problems or minor things I've encountered are:

• It crashes at version 0.4, I think it's because I was on landscape mode. (I will report back with logcat if it still crashes)

• On version 0.4, it sometimes glitches and hides some apps in the app drawer. Maybe because I cleared cache or because of the crashes. (Again, I will test and see if this still occurs in version 0.5)

• With no icons, apps or split apps with the same names are difficult to identify at first.

• Google Playstore, GitHub Releases and F-Droid still didn't show version 0.5. Fortunately, I downloaded Aurora Store and updated Olauncher there.

• Couldn't install it without deactivating it on Device Administrators, because I enabled "double tap to lock" option. I thought it was incompatible at first. GitHub description for Olauncher should have FAQ for this.

This launcher app is really nice. My first minimal launcher. Thanks for creating this. I hope it's okay to pile up these suggestions or requests of mine here. Kinda new to GitHub, since I usually email.

I've faced this issue three times so far: the app list, which contains all apps, hides roughly half of the installed apps. I have no idea how this happens or how to reproduce this. I haven't figured the pattern for which apps are hid: it's not alphabetical because I see apps from A to Z but many between aren't in the list.

If i go to settings, force quit and relaunch Olauncher, everything's normal again.

From browser app like Chrome / FF, it's possible to add a website to home screen like a shortcut. e.g: https://www.howtogeek.com/667938/how-to-add-a-website-to-your-android-home-screen/
It would be great that this kind of shortcut will show up in app search list.

Can u next add option, to turn off automatic keyboard show after slide up, to show application on mobile phone?

I'm looking for an FOSS alternative for my current launcher. OLauncher is superb but I'd like to have more items on home screen. There are more than four apps you need in daily life (commuting, bank, post, navigation) which shouldn't be behind too many taps :)

I think this has more to do with the fact that I am on Android 9 without gestures and the bottom Navbar, but something I was used to on Nova:
When the user hits home, and the user is already on the home screen, the search box (the swipe up gesture) opens.
Could this be added? Maybe as an option?

In the "all apps" list, although they are left aligned, if you click on the right part of the screen, it will still open the app because each app in the list is in reality a row.
The same behaviour should be present in the home screen, so i could have the apps name left aligned but open them with a click on the right side of the screen (much better due to huge screens nowadays making it hard to click on the left side with right hand).

This is similar to #11, but would allow the user to set the app's names either just for those that are set on the desktop or (preferably) for all the apps that are installed.

This functionality would make it easier for a user to recognise what an app does quickly (since there are no icons), e.g. "Metro"/"Vinyl" could become "Music".

This functionality is implemented in Slim Launcher so if needed, the basic implementation code is available from there.

Currently the return key just hides the keyboard, it would be nice if it opens the first match.

I've been enjoying this launcher very much so far. It's just what I've been looking for! However, one problem I am facing is that my work profile apps are not showing up on my app list. I use an app called Shelter to separate my non-FOSS apps from my FOSS apps. Is there any way to fix this?

There a couple of apps that i use a lot, so they are on the mainscreen. Some apps I use rarely, so then i can swipe up and choose on of them.

But some apps i never used and probably will never use them. It would be awesome to hide those apps completely, so that they will not appear.

Maybe you this feature could be added in the settings section. If there is no time for that, i would also programming that and making a merge request, but i dont have any Kotlin experience or android programming experience at all, so it would be a nice task for me to start into this section.

I use an Android device but as network radio. This device (Hytera PNC380) has a 240x320 wich is used in landscape. Sadly enough Olauncher turns the screen to portrait. I know this is an awkward question for an awkward device but it would be nice to have your app working (not for the menu but only to put some apps on the honescreen.

Issue: The clock on the home screen will randomly freeze and show time from 2-3 hours ago. Clicking the clock (which opens the associated app) and going back to home usually fixes it in a few minutes.

I right-aligned the icons and they look fine, except for Google Fit, which has extra gap on the right. It looks okay when left-aligned.

Please add the ability to translate the application to transifex or crowdin.
