should be replaced with set -g mouse on. Scrolling doesn't appear to be working anymore unfortunately. See tmux/tmux#145

Current workaround:

bind -n WheelUpPane if-shell -F -t = "#{mouse_any_flag}" "send-keys -M" "if -Ft= '#{pane_in_mode}' 'send-keys -M' 'copy-mode -e'"

I found this repo through http://tangledhelix.com/blog/2012/07/16/tmux-and-mouse-mode/ . It helped me with an annoyance that had me tearing my hear out. Thanks for posting!

Would you consider placing this code in the public domain? I'd like to incorporate your fix into https://github.com/qdw/qdw-dotfiles/blob/master/.tmux.conf , which I've already placed in the public domain. In general, public domain is nice because it's the least license — you can incorporate PD code into code of any other license.

To toggle mouse on and off with the same binding
bind m set -g mouse

system() calls should call program + arg list, instead of passing strings. In most cases the strings are static anyway, but in a couple of places the environment variables are involved.
