Same problem for me as well. My device manager says Synaptics PS/2 Port 
Compatible
Touchpad. 

Running Windows 7 x64 on Dell Latitude D830

I have the same problem. Tested on Vista x32 and Windows 7 x32.

I understand this is a Samsung site, but it fixes it for some people. Ignore 
the part where it's German. It works fine in English:
