Concept:

A game where you must deliver supplies to nearby space stations through an often dangerous environment.

Instructions:

Welcome to AstroFreight!

Controls:
- Move: Arrow keys or WASD
- Interact: Spacebar, F or Enter
- Menu: Esc

Objective:
- Complete delivery assignments by transporting cargo from the central station to nearby space stations.
- Follow the on-screen arrow pointing towards the target space station.
- Be cautious with the environment! Avoid collisions with obstacles. Look out for the danger markers!
- Return to the central station for a new assignment after delivering the cargo.

Tools:

  • Godot game engine (First time using this ever! It's pretty good with some caveats.)
  • Aseprite for textures.
  • JummBox 2.5 for music.
  • Jsfxr for sound effects.

Spaceship uses fuel now

  • Add a fuel indicator on the GUI
  • track the ship's fuel usage
  • for every tick the thrusters are firing, subtract fuel.
  • Warn the player by flashing the Fuel indicator for every quarter or similar mean.

Warning icons

Warning icons should be

  • a different color that the target arrow
  • be bigger
  • flash when they first come up on the screen or when they are close?

Job selection screen

Jobs (assignments previously) can be taken on this screen.
Player can see

  • the title
  • what the target is (distance maybe)
  • the description
  • the payout
  • what is needed to be moved (how many cargo ships and their weight)
  • estimated fuel cost for the trip
