MMUD-Explorer

MMUD Explorer is a database viewer for the game MajorMUD(r) created by syntax53. It has a unique comparing feature which allows you to easily compare weapons, armour, and spells. It also has a graphical room explorer in which you can 'walk' around the realm. Other features include an inventory calculator, exp calculator, explorers for monsters/shops/weapons/armour/spells/items/races/classes, saving/loading characters, and copying data to and from the clipboard. Bug: Placed items (chests, etc) do not pull up the room when double-clicking the reference

Simplest example to look at is the alder chest that spawns daily by Leo the Quick. Item#974 (in my dats at least). Spawns in Room: 9/863. If you double-click that line, which would normally pull up the room, it switches to the Rooms tab but provides an error "Room 0/0 was not found". I checked with other placed items and my suspicion is that it is an error surrounding references for which there is no % provided. It also happens for the adamantite chest (the sign version) that is near Ozrinom. The rooms exist and I have verified that they can be loaded manually in the same MME dat as well as that the items are indeed placed in the rooms indicated on the Sundry tab.

Enhancement Ideas

A true compare to compare two items and

  • show gains and losses
  • when pasting a character, it only changes what's pasted and doesn't remove items that are no longer being worn in a slot
  • "next slot and apply filter" button for armour
  • min level filter for armour

equipping items and compare lists

when equipping a new items, automatically remove it from a compare list if it's there (add option?)

ditto if this item unequips an item-- remove the unequipped item from the compare list

Request: Tweak equipment / "Find Best" to use AC/ENC values

It'd be useful if equipment / "Find best" items displayed the item with the lowest encumbrance first when all other things (AC/DR) are equal across a list of multiple, matching items. (Make use of the calculated AC/ENC values shown on item lists)

As an example, the "find best" will select black, red, orange, green, white (and other colors) of robes when clicking "Next best" before reaching silk robes, which offer the same AC/DR values but at a AC/ENC multiple of two higher.

Find room in megamud paths

Would be cool to right click a room and say "find in megamud paths" -- it would calculate the megamud code for the room and then search (with prompt) the megamud paths on the system for any paths that contain that room code.

Textblock not found on custom chests

I made a new chest which works correctly when tested in game, but would say the textblock is not found when I exported and tried to look at it in MME. After some more time trying many different textblocks, I'm having the same end result.

Is there possibly a bug with MME where it's not correctly recognizing textblocks out of the stock ranges? Not sure where to go from here, as the chests work, but it's not ideal to release them without the export being usable as a reference.

Request: Encumberance filtering on Equipment Find Best Feature

Find Best X (based on existing combinations), while keeping me encumbrance Y would be a useful feature to have.

Example:
Find Best AC/DR while keeping me Medium, which would parse through possible equipment sets until it locates the highest AC/DR possible at Medium.

Kai powers stop at level 50.

Edited boards may have Kai powers higher than level 50.
I play on a board where the Kai powers go as high as level 225.

Incorrect Accuracy on Weapons tab when using accuracy field + accuracy ability

There is a bug with the display for Accuracy values on weapons on the Weapons tab. In NMR, there is an Accuracy field directly attached to items in addition to the Accuracy ability. If a weapon contains BOTH, it seems that the value from the ability is "winning" and displaying, instead of displaying the sum of both values. If only one or the other value exists, it seems to display correctly. Additionally, the Equipment tab seems to show the correct value for these items which is what initially lead me to discover this. It appears to be working correctly for Items as well as on the Equipment tab, so I believe it is specific to the Weapons tab Accuracy column. The item I initially found this on was for bloodstained sickle on MudRev, however you can filter on the Accuracy ability being >1 and likely find some other examples if you do not have the same values in your dats.

Enhancement: Find Readyable Items on Sundry Tab

Presently, there isn't really any concise way of searching for Readyable items other than hoping they exist with a Type of Light. Readyable items are any item with the TargetIllu ability on it. The Ability filter doesn't exist on the Sundry tab or else they could just be searched that way.

Rooms view small

With modern screen resolutions, and with our (my) aging eyes, being able to either zoom in or otherwise be able to see the paths better would be great

Quarterstaff filters out as available mage weapon

Version 1.70

To replicate:

Apply a Global Filter for a Level 7 Mage, Alignment Good

Expected behavior:

quarterstaff (#100) will appear as an available weapon under "Weapons"

Actual behavior:

quarterstaff is filtered out.
Will reappear if global filter removed.

Request: Monster regen room size metrics

In the monster regen section, it would be nice to know how many other monsters also regen in that room.

If this could show for example
Regens...
Group(Lair): Park Plaza (1/86) (with 2 others)
Group(Lair): Park Street (1/87) (with 5 others)

and so on...

Also if there would be a way to surface this to the filterable part of the tab, that would be fabulous.

Minor Enhancement: Daily usage item verbiage for items where the Max uses and recharge vary

Currently, when viewing an item with daily uses MME displays the maximum uses as per day, when there is really no requirement that the Recharge on an item match the maximum uses. Here is how an item with 100 maximum uses and 25 daily recharges shows currently:

Abilities: LoyalItem, Recharge +25 -- Uses: 100x/day

It would be preferable if the verbiage could somehow more accurately reflect that this regains 25 uses a day but could potentially hold up to 100 total uses at any given time.

Enhancement: Mana Efficiency for Attack Spells

Request to add a "Mana Efficiency / Damage" or other similarly labeled column to spells. This would functionally be the equivalent of the Dmg / Spd calculation for spellcasters, and give a read of the mana efficiency of attack spells by using the global filter scaling data in addition to a new calculation of:
((min dmg+maxdmg)/2)/mana cost

Missing Spells

Add something that will show you what spells you are missing

Remote Action in textblocks with no map specified displays incorrect room

When reading textblocks in MME, if it uses a remoteaction with a 0 for the map (meaning current map?), MME defaults to the map that is being used on the map tab, resulting in the remote action showing for a room that makes no sense. Example is the stone sphinxes for the Pyramid. If your map tab is set to map 1 and you open any of the stone sphinx greet textblocks, it shows that the remoteaction is on the labyrinth. Changing the map to map 2 and re-visiting changes it to show as the corresponding room for map 2, etc. This is a fairly minor issue, but if there is a way to provide context around where a textblock is called from, this is maybe possible to correct. It caused me some confusion when I thought the pyramid textblocks were pointing to the labyrinth.

AC/DR sorts incorrectly on armour screen

2/0 AC sorts as higher than 2/0.1 as an example.

To reproduce set global filter to Level 31 Good Paladin, Armor, Worn on Back, sort by AC/DR column.

crimson cloak should sort first, then elven cloak.

dwmapi.dl error windows xp

I'm running version 1.9 on a virtual XP machine. The program loads and mostly works fine, but I get "run-time error 53: File not found: dwmapi.dll" when running certain things such as the exp calculator and the swing calculator, then it shuts down.

update:
I fixed it. I downloaded your source files from Github and removed the line from mudmonitors.bas that read "nRet = DwmGetWindowAttribute(F.hwnd, DWMWA_EXTENDED_FRAME_BOUNDS, rcFrame, Len(rcWindow))" Seems to be working okay now. Would be nice if there was a way to make it it check to see if the OS was running Vista or higher before running that line of code.

Spell Messages

Would there be a way to have MMExplr display the text for when a particular spell is applied to a target, and when it wears off?

This would be useful for joining new/old realms where the Megamud files aren't available or complete, but the MMExplorer files are available.

Filter for monsters not working correctly

If I apply a filter of Magic <= 2 and leave all the other filters as default and click apply, Champion of Blood (magic 0) disappears from the list as does massive black harpy and others. I don't think this is working correctly, but strangely it did leave many magic 0 monsters both of the placed NPC/boss variety as well as regular monsters. Not really sure what's going on here, but in my eyes this isn't usable because the results aren't reliable.

Feature - "Find room leading to this room"

Would be useful to have a button that would find a room leading to a room you are currently viewing. Some rooms don't lead back to where you came from, or don't lead back to anywhere at all.

Moving window between monitors

taskbar item doesn't move to the monitor the window is on when moving between monitors -- apply hack that I came up with for another application

level filter on items

add a filter for items that will only show items of a certain level or higher (defaulted to current level - 10, or something)
