dashcast's Issues

Screen resolution 955x400 on smartTV Philips ChromeOS

Hi,
Very good code that give us real perspective to us custom chromecast service.
We have smartTV integrated a chromecast code.

Dashcast is displaying 720p resolution on all external chromecast/box... But in internal build chromecast device with chromeOS it displaying 955px x 400px in dashcast but fullhd in service like youtube and netflix.

I try to force a resolution of 720p in the code but i do not find the good way to do it. I don't want full hd but no less than 720p.

Can you give me some research track to find a solution to this very slow resolution ?

Best Regards,

Control features

Not an issue, just a request for info ...

I was wondering if it were possible interact with the webpage? I'm casting to a Vizio TV which uses a built-in Chromecast Ultra. The "native" apps are HTML5, but they won't tell you the URLs (and they don't get shown when you query the Chromecast, which is odd - it says the Chromecast is idle). Anyway, remote buttons can interact with these apps. Is it possible to write apps that behave this way?

Assuming I can get the site to display, do the remote buttons send html events or something in some way? Is there a way to find out how to detect this?

Chromecast Control lovelace

In HA (and therefore in lovelace) when casting with dash cast the media state doesn't update and the chromecast shows as off or not playing.

Chromecast reboots every ~24 hours when running a Dashcast browser

We have a Chromecast (v3) running our custom web application on a screen which gives instructions to customers. We start it with the catt command, which loads the Dashcast app on the chromecast and shows the website - this process works great.

But every day around 3-4 PM (EET) the Chromecast reboots itself (shuts down nicely with a "restarting...." screen. We are monitoring the Chromecast every minute and will load the web page again if it's not shown, but this gives a very bad experience to the customers coming in at the time of the reboot.

I've never experienced this in Chromecasts that were playing videos from netflix, youtube etc. only with our chromecast running Dashcast and displaying a website.

Is there any way to prevent the automatic reboots? I guess the popular streaming apps does something to prevent it? Maybe it's a setting within the Dashcast Chromecast app code etc?

Feature Request - Font Recognition

I have no idea if this is even possible, but I have a webpage on an apache server on a raspberry pi within a pool hall. I have added some images that show when upcoming pool tournaments are, etc. Additionally, I have a marquee that scrolls across the bottom of the page that shows players names of matches in progress etc. I cast this page to a TV. My issue is that it seems that the font of the marquee (no matter what I set it to) comes out as plain old default arial font. Is there any way for dashcast to be able notice fonts? Also it's possible I've not tested enough different fonts to determine if they all default to arial, but the few I've tried do.

Cast is during 10min and close...

Hi,

I tried this wonderful package to cast a custom dashboard to my Google Nest Hub.
But the cast is streaming during 10min.. and close it :(

Do you have any solution ?

Can I display any websites with this ?

Hello,

I'm using Pychromecast which seem to use Dashcast.
With this, can I display any website on my Chromecast or Nest Hub ?
If not, what should I do on the website source to make it compatible ?

Sorry for the dumb question, but I can't find any "clear" doc on this :)

Secured pages

Is there a recommended path for showing secured pages? We have dashboards that are behind authorization in third party apps that we'd like to push to a screen. right now the only path is to share those directly from a chrome tab.

consent.youtube.com

when trying to cast a youtube playlist from chromebrowser to dashcast, my chromecast ultra shows a consent.youtube.com page where it will have me to enter accept. but since its a chromecast I cant enter anything.
Anyone know why and a workaround.
The tv cant control the chromecast with hdmi cec, but would that be a solution, if I try to connect one time to a cec compatible tv to get the consent accept?

DashCast not working

Hi, something is happened with dashcast after Chrome update, it is not working any more!

Intranet webpages not working

Is there a way to cast intranet webpages via Dashcast?

Currently it currently does not work if the URL is not seen publicly online.

Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'requestSession' of undefined

The DashCast stop working in last chrome version.

I have chrome v. 72.0.3626.119 (64 bit) running on windows 7 SP 1. Since update to this Google Chrome version Chromecast dashboard stops working.

I have follow message in developer console when I click "Go":

Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'requestSession' of undefined

at HTMLDivElement.go_button.onclick ((index):283)
