If the header is going to house the midnav for each of the top level divisions (massage, yoga, meditation), then I will probably need a javascript that watches the url and applies style and content changes to the midnav.

1. when the url has a top-level division in it, show the midnav assoc with it. keep track of which division we're in, and if the url doesn't change the division, then don't retrieve the midnav from the server again. If it does change the division, retrieve the new midnav from the server
2. highlight the midnav link that is currently assoc with the url
3. instead of #1, don't store the midnav links on the server/database. have them hardcoded into the html. so the header not contain the midnav. Each division's page knows how to display its midnav. No SQL or retrieving of the list required. Javascript still for #2.

get a placeholder in there. it looks like something is missing otherwise...

if it was a blog site the left pane would never be unpopulated, because it would have the chronological nagivation.

i think this will make it easier for people to view everything on one page and save it or print it if necessary

Right now the default page for the controllers are all called index. This must be somewhere hardcoded in my MVC, probably the shared.php? Anyway, either make the index.php make sense and have worth, or just scrap it and use about, or the first link on the left of the midnav bar, as the default page. Maybe each controller has its own default page?
