This gem supports comments on a Spree::Shipment, but there is currently no way to add a comment to a shipment in the admin.
Hey, the version on RubyGems is:
1.0.1 - January 09, 2017 (13 KB)
So either we update that or we change the source to be Github. Will submit a PR for that.
//askl56
In the routes file:
namespace :admin do
resources :shipments do
member do
get :comments
end
end
end
@Sinetheta pointed out in a previous PR that there hasn't been a Spree::Admin::ShipmentsController
in about 3 years. In the gem there is currently a class_eval
on Spree::Api::ShipmentsController
which implements a comments action, but that makes no sense at all. Nothing currently calls this.
Both of these things should be removed before comments are properly added to the admin on shipments. I created an issue for adding it to the UI previously #3.

The error Dependabot encountered was:
Bundler::GemNotFound with message: Could not find gem 'solidus_extension_dev_tools' in git://github.com/solidusio-contrib/solidus_extension_dev_tools.git (at master@5b33a25).
The source does not contain any versions of 'solidus_extension_dev_tools'
If you think the above is an error on Dependabot's side please don't hesitate to get in touch - we'll do whatever we can to fix it.
CRUD routes are added for comments, but none of the views are implemented so going to any of them errors.
Since comments are all added to specific objects (Orders and shipments at the moment), these routes should be removed.

It looks like the master build is failing for all the solidus versions. I think fixing this has the highest priority over all the other issues and then we can think about releasing a new version on rubygems (#11).
Currently, installing from RubyGems causes this error on migration:
StandardError: An error has occurred, this and all later migrations canceled:
Directly inheriting from ActiveRecord::Migration is not supported. Please specify the Rails release the migration was written for:
class CreateComments < ActiveRecord::Migration[4.2]
which is because the migrations do not have versions on them on the RubyGems release. The versions were added to the migrations back in June 2017 and the last update to RubyGems was done on January 2017.
Since the documentation installation instructions say that you should install from RubyGems, we should update the RubyGems version - or change the instructions to download from GitHub.
