fatalist-js's Issues

Data storage

There's should be some way to store data. Maybe it's good idea to just keep a data property inside state machine.

Make state machine initializing more declarative

Currently, to init the state machine, we need to imperatively add states and transitions to it:

machine.addState('IDLE_STATE')
machine.addState('LOADING_STATE')
machine.addState('LOADED_STATE')
machine.addTransition('IDLE_STATE', 'LOADING_STATE', 'load')
machine.addTransition('LOADING_STATE', 'LOADED_STATE', 'loaded')
machine.addTransition('LOADED_STATE', 'LOADING_STATE', 'load')

Maybe it would be better, if we'll just pass an object with all stuff to StateMachine constructor (like it's done in XState):

const machine = new StateMachine({
  IDLE_STATE: {
    load: 'LOADING_STATE'
  },

  LOADING_STATE: {
    loaded: 'LOADED_STATE'
  },

  LOADED_STATE: {
    load: 'LOADING_STATE'
  }
})

And for requests and side effects we could make some kind of commands in elm:

const fetchEffect = (state, data) =>
  fetch('example.com/some/example/route')
    .then(response => response.json())
    .then(result => ({
      ...data,
      dataFromExampleRoute: result
    }))

const machine = new StateMachine({
  IDLE_STATE: {
    load: [
      'LOADING_STATE', // <- name of state that we will transit to, untill promise won't resolve
      fetchEffect, // <- function, that takes (state, data) as arguments, and will return promise with new data
      'loaded' // <- name of transition, which will be fired after promise will be resolved
    ]
  },

  LOADING_STATE: {
    loaded: 'LOADED_STATE'
  },

  LOADED_STATE: {
    load: 'LOADING_STATE'
  }
})
