Hey, tried to install sinusbot with the installer on my Ubuntu 18.04.3 system and got this error:

Supervisord bot doesnt stay open.. (supervisord implementation)

I use supervisord and installed the BOT manually.
Is it possible to a config to me? Thats my own config (LINK).
currently I´m getting the error
error starting up: listen tcp 0.0.0.0:33333: bind: address already in use
but the BOT is not started in the background in this case.

Improve time handling

Incorrect cron entry for ytdl updates

Hello,

The SinusBot installer script installs ytdl and adds a cron-entry to automatically update this tool. It does that by creating /etc/cron.d/ytdl which contains:

0 0 * * * sinusbot youtube-dl -U --restrict-filename >/dev/null

However, on Debian 8 at least, this cron fails. This is because youtube-dl is located in /usr/local/bin/youtube-dl and the default PATH in the cron file is /usr/bin:/bin.

I fixed it for now by changing the cron to this:

0 0 * * * sinusbot PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/bin; youtube-dl -U --restrict-filename >/dev/null

However, I am not sure if the cron can be overwritten automatically by an update from SinusBot at some point, which is why I am reporting it here.

Use docker based unit testing

It should be the case, that:

installer_script.sh
startup.go as binary
test_cases.go as binary
will be injected into a new container and executed. So we can test if the installer_script.sh will work in Docker on:
CentOS 6.9
CentOS latest
Debian 8
Debian latest
Ubuntu 14
Ubuntu 16
Ubuntu 17
to see, if the script will succeed on every os.

[Feature Request] Optionally install nginx install and config including letsencrypt cert

Install SinusBot without teamspeak

It should be possible, to install the Bot with Discord only. So that there won't be the tons of dependencies for ts3 installed.

Auto fix locales and set them to ut8-en_EN when a system has no configured locales (POSIX and LC_ALL is empty)

Improve systemd handling

Use always systemd if available. Check for it via:

When errors appears the script just exists.

Add fedora as supported os

I've try'd to run this script on fedora and it's work except for some package that can be installed by their .rpm file (due to dependancy error). So fix error with packages and make compatible with fedora!

Here an example how to do for make compatible.

Someone deleted his home folder by accident (see discord chat).
Congratulations, I think he is the first one to do this out of thousands of users 🎉

Although the script is not to blame for this since it asks for the location and a confirmation, the warning should be improved to clearly state that all data in this location will be deleted.

When I tried to install Sinusbot with this script, everything worked fine until the script reached "Checking for the latest latest installer version" state.

I tried to run the code manually, download the client, but nothing.

wenn ich meinen sinusbot restarten will geht das nicht.
Ich habe es mit "service sinusbot restart" ausprobiert und auch mit /etc/init.d/sinusbot restart.

Script doesn't work in IPv6 only environments

Hi, i noticed that this script is unusable in an IPv6 only environment. This is probably due to Github not supporting IPv6. Even after i replaced the download sources with links to a Dualstack Server hosting copies of those files, i can't seem to get it to work. It fails at Downloading TS3 client files. Download failed! Exiting now!
Any ideas on how to get this working? What do i need to change?
I'd love to use this script more often, but due to most of my VMs being IPv6 only, i sadly can't.

change the apt-get upgrade process

Current problems:

the CI is broken because the package upgrade fails
users complain about errors that are caused by their broken sources.list or other unrelated packages

We can't fix the random broken sources.list/packages that users have but to partially solve both issues I would recommend two changes:

Don't force the user to upgrade packages.
It's fine to make upgrading the default and not provide support for outdated/broken systems but forcing the users to upgrade is a bad decision imo.
Don't quit the installer if apt throws warnings or errors as long as the required packages are installed.
This might not be easy to handle correctly but would be very nice to have.

Cant Update my Sinusbot

Hello Guys,

i have a big Problem, i need to Update my Bot cause hes not running as a few weeks but i got an error:

TS3 client install done.
Downloading latest SinusBot.
Extracting SinusBot files.
SinusBot installation done.
Starting systemd installation
Failed to stop sinusbot.service: Unit sinusbot.service not loaded.
