Home Page: http://boughtstuff.com
As suggested by Dean.
(no body)
Previous link appearing on first page. Also, next link on last page.
I'm making this a separate issue as the footer issue has been closed already.
I've been informed that on-lose-focus the photo URL should auto-preview. FYI, my browser is Firefox 3.6.
The "just bought xxx" tweet seems like spam. Using the item description makes the tweet more human and personal. We still provide the link to boughtstuff item of course.
The twitter avatar is too large like Gideon's:
right now when twitter is in fail whale mode, posting an item gives the user the impression that the site is defective also. NOOOOOOOO
Right now, the lightbox retains its size with a big blank space below the success message.
Someone asked for a way to post multiple items in bulk (since girls shop in bulk).
Let's use the price tag as the favicon?
In lower resolutions like 1024x768, more than half the screen is occupied by the header, and barely a row of items can be seen (the first row is cut off). The blue space between the boughtstuff logo and the top of the screen may be too big.
This issue was discussed in the office before.
We should put the Amazon Affiliate Link so that we can surface a "Buy on Amazon" link.
As discussed with Cy, the user should be redirected to twitter to login, and goes back to the app with name prefilled.
Use of Google Webmasters Tools was recommended.
(when not logged in)
ditto
According to Marco, a dependency preventing this is the TOS which should include data-mining. Another dependency I realized is that the footer should link to Sinefunc's website, and we don't have a website yet.
This is a suggestion from Greg Moreno. He said he normally looks for his image from Google, so why not preview the top Google Image results based on the product name. What do you guys think?
The idea I got from the development of boughtstuff is we'll be indexing our own images and use that in the preview so we can reuse our own images, but I'm not sure if the team has considered using Google Images.
src_twitter_status_id should be a string, not an int. This could be the cause of the validates_uniqueness ignoring dups.
My friend posted "Nov 28, 2009" for the date and got an error. It seems we need to at least put a sample date in proper format in the error message.
One suggestion is to just say "Name bought item" without the "just" word. Or the tweet can indicate when the item was bought but that may be too long.
We should style the error pages we serve, possibly with a link to report the issue (email?).
This was the one reported by Dean. Sample name "Dean Michael Berris" is already long enough to mess up the layout.

We currently display dates like "2010-03-28". It should be something like "March 28, 2010" or perhaps "2 days ago".
This should be more prominent in the UI, maybe a bigger button or something.
Add support for showing and entering values in different currencies.
Instead of "Login to Twitter".
It seems like a more neutral "Say something about..." is better. Replying to bought stuff doesn't necessarily mean asking about it.
when the date string isn't parseable, it should throw a validation error.
Support: christmas, thanksgiving
This was reported by my friend. It occurred using the IE7 browser.
Some links identified that need changing:
This was suggested by Dan Matutina. When the user is on his own shelf, he should see a "Generate Signature" button. On click, the UI should update to indicate that the user should select items in his shelf to add to the signature while a textarea displays the generated signature. A "Copy" button is provided beside/near the textarea. Dan suspects that a big part of our users will be the PhilMUG type of users who enjoy sharing stuff they've bought in forum or email signatures. Of course, the signature should link back to boughtstuff. What do you guys think? Not a core feature but seems interesting, and would be helpful in SEO.
I know this is still a work in progress, but methinks it should be high up in the list.
