boughtstuff-sinatra-activerecord's Issues

No Terms of Service

I'm making this a separate issue as the footer issue has been closed already.

Page header is too big

In lower resolutions like 1024x768, more than half the screen is occupied by the header, and barely a row of items can be seen (the first row is cut off). The blue space between the boughtstuff logo and the top of the screen may be too big.

This issue was discussed in the office before.

Amazon Affiliate Link

We should put the Amazon Affiliate Link so that we can surface a "Buy on Amazon" link.

Improve SEO

Use of Google Webmasters Tools was recommended.

No Footer

According to Marco, a dependency preventing this is the TOS which should include data-mining. Another dependency I realized is that the footer should link to Sinefunc's website, and we don't have a website yet.

Google Images integration

This is a suggestion from Greg Moreno. He said he normally looks for his image from Google, so why not preview the top Google Image results based on the product name. What do you guys think?

The idea I got from the development of boughtstuff is we'll be indexing our own images and use that in the preview so we can reuse our own images, but I'm not sure if the team has considered using Google Images.

Date format error

My friend posted "Nov 28, 2009" for the date and got an error. It seems we need to at least put a sample date in proper format in the error message.

Styled error pages

We should style the error pages we serve, possibly with a link to report the issue (email?).

More readable date format

We currently display dates like "2010-03-28". It should be something like "March 28, 2010" or perhaps "2 days ago".

Login to Twitter

This should be more prominent in the UI, maybe a bigger button or something.

Last Christmas issue

when the date string isn't parseable, it should throw a validation error.

Support: christmas, thanksgiving

Signature Generator

This was suggested by Dan Matutina. When the user is on his own shelf, he should see a "Generate Signature" button. On click, the UI should update to indicate that the user should select items in his shelf to add to the signature while a textarea displays the generated signature. A "Copy" button is provided beside/near the textarea. Dan suspects that a big part of our users will be the PhilMUG type of users who enjoy sharing stuff they've bought in forum or email signatures. Of course, the signature should link back to boughtstuff. What do you guys think? Not a core feature but seems interesting, and would be helpful in SEO.
