Support for programmatic midi messages

Hey this is brilliant! I was wondering, is there any way to send a midi message directly rather than having to pass a file? I was thinking of using this library as a starting point for a livecoding environment...

Doesn't compile on Yosemite+Anaconda

Hi Simon,

thanks for your project. It looks exactly like what I need for my research project. Unfortunately, it seems I can't compile it under Yosemite+Anaconda. I receive a bunch of similar errors during the python setup.py build stage:
