jupyterlab-tailwind-theme's Issues

Illegible collapsed text

In the dark mode, the text describing the contents of a collapsed section ("+ 20 cells hidden") is not legible: it's in a light script over a light background (Chrome, macOS). Here is what it looks like on my machine:

Screen Shot 2021-08-23 at 22 06 54

Hovering over the collapsed box correctly shows a light text over a dark grey background.

Using find to highlight text

Great theme! I spotted that using find to highlight text is somewhat muted.

By way of comparison, the vanilla JupyterLab theme shows the current match in yellow and other matches with an inverted white on black.

Are there any tips to make the highlighting pop a bit more?

The Markdown Editor

Hi there,
first of all, thank you for the wonderful theme, it really makes jupyterlab feel like an IDE.

Currently though, the editing mode for markdown files looks kinda like a terminal , which I personally dont like that much. Maybe you could add an option to change it or show me, where the styles for the editor are designed, so I can change it myself for my extension

Thanks a lot again, ive added a scrennshot to show what I mean

Axes labels are dark in Matplotlib plots in Tailwind-dark

In JupyterLab with the Tailwind dark theme, when plotting matplotlib plots, the axes labels remain black. See comparisons between tailwind-dark and jupyterlab-dark below for eg.

I am using JupyterLab 2.1.4.

Great job on the theme!

Selecting Multiple Cells

I've encountered an issue where selecting multiple cells with the shift key doesn't work while the Tailwind themes are in use. I observe normal functionality using the default themes.

Thank you for these beautiful themes!

Add themed scrollbars

Scroll bars, using dark theme, in particular, stands out from the rest of the theme.

Deprecation Warning on Installing

[/home/muyiwa/Documents/ML/env) muyiwa@mj-hp-elitebook-6930p:~/Documents/ML/chapter_two$ jupyter labextension install jupyterlab-tailwind-theme
(Deprecated) Installing extensions with the jupyter labextension install command is now deprecated and will be removed in a future major version of JupyterLab.

Users should manage prebuilt extensions with package managers like pip and conda, and extension authors are encouraged to distribute their extensions as prebuilt packages

Anyplan to fix the above warning?

Readability: search box & command palette

Thank you for creating this beautiful theme!
I encountered two readability issues:

Search box

The search box has transparent background; case and regex toggles are not shown.

Command palette

Black-on-purple text is a bit difficult to read.

selecting text in code or markdown cell has no enough contrast in MS Edge

I wanted to modify the cursor color as well as the color when selecting text in markdown and code cells bc, the current setting does not give enough contrast.

Browser(MS Edge, with dark theme)

changing .cm-s-ipython div.CodeMirror-selected {background: #3366ff !important;}

in C:\user\xxx.jupyter\custom\custom.css

does not appear to have effect

status bar not visable

The status bar is never visible regardless of the view menu setting.

Jlab Version 3.1.12

Update to support lates Jupyterlab 3.x.x version

Jupyterlab has been updated to version >3.0.0 (currently on 3.0.5). This extension is not supported on these versions and gives an error when trying to install it. Please update for latest Jupterlab version. Thank you.

Cursor left at last position even in command mode

Hey Dejan,

Thanks for creating this beautiful theme. I really like the colors and the little details - including the centered cells.

I noticed a small glitch when using the theme with jupyterlab-vim. I'm raising this here because it hasn't happened with other themes or the default themes.

You'll notice in the picture below that when you exit edit mode to command mode, the cursor stays at the last position, making me think that I'm still editing the cell. This often leads to deleting the whole cell by pressing D, D when I only need to delete the line. I would look for the blue cell bound indicating active, but the eye goes for the cursor first.

Is this something you can look into and help with? I'm attaching the list of extensions installed.

        @axlair/jupyterlab_vim v0.12.4  enabled  OK
        @deathbeds/jupyterlab-fonts v1.0.1  enabled  OK
        @jupyterlab/git v0.21.0-alpha.0 disabled OK
        @jupyterlab/toc v4.0.0  enabled  OK
        @mohirio/jupyterlab-horizon-theme v2.0.0  enabled  OK
        @ryantam626/jupyterlab_code_formatter v1.3.6  enabled  OK
        @wallneradam/custom_css v0.2.0  enabled  OK
        jupyterlab-tailwind-theme v0.4.2  enabled  OK
        nbdime-jupyterlab v2.0.0  enabled  OK

I really appreciate your time!

Adjustable cells max width

Consider adding support for adjusting the max-width of cells, or even making a separate extension for that, as I don't know if there are any other extensions, currently, that would do that.

Other than that, the fact that your extension/theme provides a centered cells view is really refreshing especially using a widescreen monitor. I understand the pros for default JupyterLab default full-width cells view, but it can be quite bothersome on nonstandard monitors. Thus this theme has become quite special to me.

Tailwind Dark: Markdown Tables

While using Tailwind Dark, every second cell in a Markdown table is washed out:

Tailwind Dark Markdown Table

This behaviour is not observed in Tailwind Light:

Tailwind Light Markdown Table

Once again, thank you for these beautiful themes!
