We've released a new prod 7.5.1 and beta v7.6.0-beta.3 which both include the proxy fix. Please try them.
And for the future, we created a test plan to verify proxy support whenever we change the code in this area.

the same issue here on linux using proxy, versions <7.5 worked fine, this one stopped to work. in my case signal reports it is offline and can't connect. in the firewall log i noticed two ip addresses that are not handled by proxy anymore (and i suppose they are signal related): 13.248.212.111 and 76.223.92.165. my proxy configuration for https is using *.whispersystems.org and *.signal.org which worked fine till the update. looks like though proxy settings is loaded correctly, the requests bypass the proxy.

Confirming 7.5.1 production worked for me on Linux and history synced up fine

Hi all, really sorry about this! We've reproduced the issue and are working on a fix.

same issue here with MacOS

I thought the beta version works though. Reporting from some authoritarian country in East Asia. Don't want to say which, but you know which one. What I separately lament is Signal doesn't seem to have a language interface for that East Asian country. Probably an issue for the mobile app version?

Can confirm, Win
We use a batch file with Environment Variables to give the proxy information:
set HTTP_PROXY=http://<REDACTED>:8080
set HTTPS_PROXY=http://<REDACTED>:8080
start "" "C:\Users\<REDACTED>\AppData\Local\Programs\signal-desktop\Signal.exe" --use-tray-icon
Here's a Debug Log: debuglog.txt

can confirm here with Windows 11

Also not working here behind proxy. I hope native support will make it to a release somehow.

@ayumi-signal thank you for your service! I just upgraded and noticed this on Linux as well but you're already on the case

Same issue on MacOS. It's really annoying :(

Can confirm 7.6.0-beta.3 is working for me on Linux, thanks @supermansaga for the suggestion.
It did require linking a new device and does not have any chat history though but that's fine for me at least in the meantime.

@indutny-signal @ayumi-signal not sure if that qualifies for another issue, but on previous versions (<7.5.0) when running the desktop app without proxy configured but being in the network that required it - the app showed a nice yellow warning that "connection could not be established". now (7.5.1) it doesn't show anything like that - it simply doesn't send/receive the messages.
of course works fine when turning on proxy
