hackertracker's Issues

Better Ratings For Talks

It would be nice if there were a way to rate talks by more than just a star, so you could do things like "talks rated 1 are ones I absolutely will not miss, talks rated 3 are ones I'll check out if all the other talks I starred in this timeslot are lame".

Scrolling - FAB / Toolbar

Screens are being pushed off because of the Toolbar + Fragment + FAB combo.

Need to find a solution to fix this, but it's not critical.

App Doesn't Load

Hi,
I'm running Copperhead OS on a Nexus 5, so no Google apps. Are google apps required?

I enabled all permissions requested (network, sensors and files).
The install goes as normal. But when I open the app all I get is a splash screen - dark grey with the white logo.

Could be my setup, but let me know if you have any ideas/solutions. Would love to make use of the app.
Thanks.

Back button => back nav

There is often a back nav in app. Would be great if Android back button had the same behavior.

Filter by tag on tap

Would be nice if tapping a tag in an event listing showed a view of events with the same tag.

Recover list of starred events

Would like to use starred event listing to follow up on after con. Would be nice to be able to view after event is done and even better if could export

Star status doesn't update in schedule list

Hi folks. Thanks for the great app. Going through the paper schedule was always a big challenge before the hacker tracker app. I've got a bug report for you though. ๐Ÿ˜„

Reproduction steps

  1. Go the schedule list in the app.
  2. Select a talk/event to view its detail.
  3. Star/Favorite the event
  4. Tap back to return to the schedule list

Expected result
The star on the newly starred/favorited talk in the schedule list should be filled in.

Actual result
The star is not filled in, and will only be updated after it's scrolled out of view (probably because the RecyclerView gets an opportunity to rebind the view).

Here's a video of the bug in action:

Workshop star not retained

Summary: When I put a star on the Workshops I'm attending, it is not saved at all. As soon as I navigate away from that section of Hacker Tracker the star is lost.

Steps to repro:
0. Open Hacker Tracker on Android version 6.0.13

  1. If necessary, use Settings to switch to DEF CON 27
  2. Switch to the Workshops pane
  3. Tap a star next to any workshop
  4. Tap the menu icon (notice that Workshops is not highlighted)
  5. Tap any other pane to switch away from Workshops
  6. Tap the menu icon and tap Workshops

Result: Nothing has a star

Expected behavior: Whatever had a star before still has a star

More info: tested on Android Oreo and Pie on Samsung and Pixel phones. Same result.

[feature req.] Uber shortcuts

It'd be pretty cool if the app (the 'maps' section, perhaps?) included a dropdown of relevant con buildings/locations and a button that, when pressed, would open Uber with the selected destination automatically populated. It'd be fairly straightforward from Uber's side with the sdk or with deep links.

Remembering last selection and ordering by frequency of use would be an unnecessary bonus. Could even include a list of 'pick up' location presets, defaulting to your current location.

Just a thought...

Calendar at-a-glance view

Hello,
We attended you presentation at DEFCON 26. Great App, used it since it was released.
Please add the daily schedule pages. We would like to have at at-a-glance view of the daily events. For us this is the only reason we carry the hardcopy. Presently, we take a picture of these 4 pages.

Thanks.

Workshops Info Incorrect

Workshops information is incorrect. For DC25 we had online pre-registration which are now full, including waitlists. There will be no on-site registration and no standby line.

The Derbycon times are off

First off, thanks for putting DerbyCon into the app. The times seem to be set saying stuff starts at 530am when it starts at 830am. I think it's 3 hours off.

Clear outdated notifications

Notifications hang around even when they are well past being relevant. Consider expiring when event is finished.

All times/dates set to current time/date

I'm looking at HOPE 2024, but seems to be doing this for all conferences.

version 7.1.1(363) on Android/Graphene OS

every event is set to the current time/date, so pretty useless for planning

Show Long-Running Activities In Multiple Timeslots

Long-running activities like workshops should show up in every timeslot until they finish; if you have a workshop from 2 to 6 and talks at 3/4/5:30, the workshop should show up alongside the talks.

Undo Button

There needs to be an undo button for things like removing stars; I was scrolling through all the talks I had starred and pressed down in the wrong place to stop the scroll, removing the star from a talk and taking it out of view until I could search through the full schedule to find it again.

If the app offered the ability to undo for five seconds or so after removing a star that would be great

Expose conference choice better

Using Android Hacker Tracker at a time when multiple conferences are ongoing, it was really confusing when the active con changed in the app. Digging into the settings to change back to the con I was at was nonintuitive. I'd recommend launching the con selection popup or a new drop-down if the con name is tapped on the side pullout, or small text under the current con name to the effect of "change".

Map - Change Library

Find a new library for handling the PDF map. The current one is slow and may suffer from memory leaks.

Map fails to load initially

The map is black when loading from the Map side menu when previously on Schedule.

Steps:
Open the schedule left tap
Open the map left tab
The Caesars tab is open, but above it is all black
Clicking Flamingo day at the bottom also shows a black map
Going one farther (flamingo night) it will show the flamingo night map
Now going back to Ceasars the Ceasars map will show

Android 9.0, Pixel 2 XL
Might be fixed by #13.

Old event is only event listed and cannot manually update

I just downloaded from the Google Play Store on two different Samsung Galaxy family devices. Both of them have Wi-Fi Internet connectivity when I download and launch. On launch, the only event listed is CackalackyCon 2019, and the only content is for that event (May 31-June 2). There is no refresh/update button available.

I have no idea how to get current content, or whether that even is the current content. Any suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks...

Party addition...

The Alienvault Black Hat after party is in the Mandalay at 7pm on the 6th.

F-Droid Store

Any Chance to geht this into fdroid so de googled phones habe it a little more easy? An apk in githubs releases would also suffice.
