sxd-xpath's Introduction

SXD-XPath

An XML XPath library in Rust.

Build Status Current Version Documentation

Overview

The project is broken into two crates:

  1. document - Basic DOM manipulation and reading/writing XML from strings.
  2. xpath - Implementation of XPath 1.0 expressions.

There are also scattered utilities for playing around at the command line.

In the future, I hope to add support for XSLT 1.0.

Goals

This project has a lofty goal: replace libxml and libxslt.

sxd-xpath's Issues

Consider changing `Axis` to be an enum

Right now it's a trait and needs to be boxed. However, I don't expect that we will need to add future axes, and most structs are empty (and could probably just make it on the stack at run time, otherwise.

Remove `Value::nodeset` method

There isn't a conversion to nodeset unless you are already a nodeset. We should leverage pattern matching to force deciding on what to do at the call site.

Standardize conversion method names.

to_foo -> return a new object, leaving the original
as_foo -> return a "free" transformation of the object
into_foo -> consume the object, returning a new one

Specifically, to_node needs to be adapted.
