ink-dialogue-system's Introduction

Ink + Unity Dialogue System

This is a sample project that shows one way of integrating Ink and Unity to build a Dialogue System.

The branches in this repo follow the implementation for the video series. Each branch represents the state of the system for a given video. The videos can be found on the below YouTube channel.

ink-dialogue-system's Issues

Repo has no license

Please feel free to take the system from this example and use it however you'd like!

Even though that statement is in the README.txt. Technically, the rules here apply https://docs.github.com/en/repositories/managing-your-repositorys-settings-and-features/customizing-your-repository/licensing-a-repository.

You're under no obligation to choose a license. However, without a license, the default copyright laws apply, meaning that you retain all rights to your source code and no one may reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from your work. If you're creating an open source project, we strongly encourage you to include an open source license. The Open Source Guide provides additional guidance on choosing the correct license for your project.

Allowed to contribute/ Ideas I would love to try to add

Hello there. Do I have permission to fork the repository and add in two things. The first being the SetVariableState method you mentioned in the comments section of your most recent video? The second thing being a potential refactor of the HandleTags method. I would love to make a protected virtual method so that derived classes can add their own parse-able Tags. I also would like to be able to split up the save functionality from the dialog manager as I would like to be able to store additional information about the game; such as NPC locations in the world. I would also love to try to assist in making quests for your system; though I think it will require external functions to be called or for more tags to be created.
