The redefinition of the date format required with termcal-de kicks off compatibility issues.
An option suppressing these redefinitions should be provided.

In the original termcal code, the date is typeset inside a box when the month changes.
It would be practical to configure whether the box should be ...

1. always displayed
2. only displayed when the month name changes (plain termcal's default)
3. never displayed (current termcal-de's default)

Actually, some month names are very long and produce overfull boxes when printing a calender.
Since datetime2's German language module defines abbreviated month names, there should be an abbr package option for termcal-de which switches to using short month names.

datetime2 provides a powerful mechanism to display dates in several regional formats.
Requiring it would simplify using termcal-de with other regional dialects (like Austrian or Swiss)
