mesh-extender-builder's Issues

Unable to communicate with RFD900+

Hello,

I just started testing with the RFD900+ modem. However, I am unable to communicate with it via minicom. I typed +++ and AT1 but there was no response. I have attached the flash900.log file. How can I find out if the device has been detected?

flash900.txt

RFD900 radios can refuse to enter command mode

If link is established to another radio, there seem to be circumstances where the radios can get stuck.
It might be fixed by the most recent firmware, but this is yet to be confirmed.

Reflashing a mesh extender can fail if another mesh extender is in range on 915MHz

It seems like mesh extenders talking to their radios at the wrong baud rate can get all confused, resulting in RFD900 radios refusing to switch to command mode (see Issue #3), and generally confusing servald. Because the RFD900 flash process then fails, the process continues, until the mesh extender is booted in the absence of another mesh extender, which should allow the radio to flash without trouble, and all to go well.

Unable to discover peer over 1 hop

I have installed the mesh extender firmware on two MR3020 (A & B) units. I do not have the UHF module. I have changed the SSID of the AP on the B unit. I can SSH into the unit and ping the MESH IPs (adhoc0 interface). I then connected one handphone to unit A and a second handphone to unit B via the WiFi AP. The handphones are running Serval app ver. 0.93. When I go to Contacts > List Phone on the Mesh, I am unable to see the other phone. Can you let me know what could be the problem. I have no problem seeing the peer when both the phones are on the same AP, i.e. using only one unit of MR3020.

NO reply from AT Commands, with RFD 900+

Hello Paul,

I am having kind of same issue. I am using Ubuntu 16.04. I downloaded the repository but make install gave error. So without installing any software or firmware on Ubuntu Linux. I installed minicom.

I have RFD 900+ radio. When I am on Minicom terminal window and I type "AT" as AT commands to see whats going on with the radio. I do not have anything back, I mean I do not get "OK". Could you please help me here, as I need help urgently.

Thank you for your time and help.

Unable to get High-power output on the TL-MR3040

Hello Paul,

I have successfully got high-power output enabled on the TL-MR3020. However, on the TL-MR3040 (v2 HW) the output power does not go more than -20 dBm (on the Spectrum Analyzer). Even after manually programming the radio to +30 dBm, it goes back to -20 dBm when lbard is started. I have ensured that hipower.en file is placed in the /dos directory but the EEPROM gets programmed back to TXPOWER=1dBm when lbard is started. On the MR3020 I get the following warning: "Setting radio to hipower -- you need a special spectrum license to do this!" but not on the MR3040. Please let me know what could be the problem.

servald on mesh extender can become unresponsive

... sometimes just from sitting there.

We should have a cronjob or other watchdog that tries to run "servald id self" and if it fails to respond within a few seconds kills the servald process so that runserval can restart it automatically.

Paul.
