autotip's Issues

ModCore Privacy

So some versions ago (I tested 3.0) ModCore was introduced to be installed automatically from AutoTip, even though it was still optional to download the version with ModCore from the AutoTip website.

In the latest version (3.0.1), AutoTip with the ModCore installation is the only available download.
While I (may?) understand using ModCore, the fact is that it's actually sending data that haven't been told to be sent and that may be a privacy concern since ModCore is actually distributing/publishing that data (the green circle in the tablist when someone in your server is using ModCore, for example).

While I've personally been able to see the way to disable it's installation by looking into the code, users that only want to download the mod and don't have that knowledge don't have any easy way to disable it (or to know how to disable it).
There should be:

  • Some place telling the data sent via ModCore and all the privacy stuff
  • Either some page advising how to set the system variable to opt-out from ModCore for regular users or a simple toggle for the user to choose whether installing ModCore before it actually gets installed

I don't really know how this all (relatively) new privacy thing works, but I just find annoying getting unwanted things installed and wanted to let you know.
P.S.: Actually, there is no (or I can't find any) mention to ModCore in the AutoTip website now.

Build instructions

Hi,

First of all, very useful mod. Thanks for maintaining it.

I was looking to build the code myself, but I'm not particularly familar with Gradle, and so I've been having trouble with building the repo (IntelliJ can't seem to download the Google/Forge dependencies properly, for some reason). I was wondering if you had any build instructions.

Thanks.

thanks for the help

autotip.pro seems to be down.

Currently, I'm getting the same errors as issue #12.

I got the following error from CloudFlare:
Error 522: Connection timed out • Ray ID: 50e399cc9cc9988d • 2019-08-30 03:15:32 UTC
If you check latest.log, it also shows the CloudFlare error there.

Refreshed, got a different error some minutes later:
Error 520: Web server is returning an unknown error • Ray ID: 50e3a65dcb7b988d • 2019-08-30 03:24:06 UTC

Earlier (~30 minutes ago), I was still able to start Minecraft w/o problem, just that it told me that Hypixel's API was down. I closed Minecraft and, when I restarted it, it stops responding when it attempts to load AutoTip. After a minute or so passes, then it crashes.

Is it not possible just for the plugin to disable itself or skip connection to website if it gets an unexpected error?

Autotip command executes on 'at' (no slash)

Autotip should only be triggering on /at, but it also triggers when my message starts with at.

i.e. autotip prompts me for an actual autotip command argument when I try putting at least try in chat.

That player is not online, try another user!

After upgrading from 3.0.1 to 3.1.1 I started to get error "That player is not online, try another user!" (not a Java exception or such, error message from Hypixel), im assuming the mod is trying to tip someone offline. Wanted to check what changed between those versions in the source but I think the source code here is not up-to-date? Anyways I used Bytecode Viewer and it seems like the users to tip are fetched from server so mod version shouldn't matter? I don't know why it wasn't happening on the old version though, did i just get unlucky and the server started to send offline players to tip right after i upgrade making it look like it was caused by update? Not sure, I might try old version again later (I had a backup just in case).

Autotip is being blocked by cloudflare captcha

It appears that autotip is getting blocked by a cloudflare captcha:

https://paste.ee/p/e0O9m

(Error starts on line 718)

This causes it to print "Autotip is disabled because it couldn't connect to the API" in the chat upon connecting to Hypixel.

I don't know if this is just a local issue or not, but could you please look into it?

Failed to connect to api

I am using autotip 3.0.1 and It says failed to connect to api!
(I can't update the mod because the new version has essentials and I hate essentials)
I tried using older versions but they have some issues

Autotip creates config files in mods directory, not config directory.

Expectation: The autotip mod should create the autotip folder and everything inside it in the .minecraft/config directory.
What actually happens: The files are created in the .minecraft/mods directory.

Some sort of migration should be added when this is fixed, so people don't lose their stats / configs because it suddenly starts checking a different directory.
