fetch-installer-pkg's Issues

Installer declares "Successful installed" when indeed the result is corrupt/not-okay, when installing on other volume than startup-volume

Currently 11.1 is available. The python script seems to work and creates an "InstallAssistant-11.1-20C69.pkg" (12.2 GB)
After installation on a different volume than the boot-volume I get:

  • "macOS Big Sur Installer" (v16.2.01, 17.8 MB) on the target volume (folder /Applications)
  • 12 GB less diskspace on the boot volume

I am unable to locate the "missing" 12 GB installer files on my boot-volume.
I have 2 issues now:

  1. the installer is not the expected full installer (it's probably not possible to create usb-drive-installers from this source)
  2. I want to get rid of the "leftovers" from by boot device and get "my 12 GB" back please.

Any help appreciated!

OS Selector, All Available

Would it be possible to modify this excellent script to pull down and create a pkg for Catalina as it does for Big Sur? As it is right now I don't get an OS selector (only one Big Sur release is showing in the catalog at the time of writing this). I'm thinking something like installinstallmacos.py's OS selector, but the packaging method you've built here instead of the dmg build in the other.

--latest argument doesn't download latest OS

The --latest argument downloads Big Sur currently instead of Monterey since Big Sur was posted by Apple after Monterey. Can we alter the logic to provide the latest with the highest version number, or a new argument of --highest to find the most current release of macOS from Apple?

macOS 12.3 compatibility ?

Hi !
Is this script compatible with Monterey 12.3 since python 2 thing ?
I unfortunatly can't do the thing to install python 2 on my computer, and got errors every time I tried to run this script.

Thanks !

Script pulling down Big Sur.dmg instead of .pkg

I've used this script in the past with great success, but as of this morning, I tried pulling down 11.4 and it produced install_macOS_11.4-20F71.dmg

I don't know if this is a script issue or an Apple change.
