This sounds like the wrong process is being attached. Early this year we added a feature to display the correct PID in the GUI, to make it easier to attach to the correct instance of the Logic process.

Also you can't launch the process with gdb, because the launched process never actually loads any analyzers. It spawns several more instances of the Logic process, one of which will load the analyzer libraries. Use the PID mentioned in the link above to attach to the correct process.
We also updated our documentation for Linux debugging with a fix for a problem we saw on Ubuntu 20 with permissions:
