Push button

Pin D2 is connected to a momentary push button which is used to change display modes, don't work for me in ground, i conected in V+ to work.

sorry my english.

ESP32 64 channels

Hi Scott,
How are you?

I would like to use the 64 channels. However, the EXCEL list does not help me any further. Do you have any idea ? How should the grading be done? With 32 channels, it looks very nice.

Reducing microphone interference

First of all I must say I'm a total noob, but this is my sugestion. When I implemented the MAX4466 the results were very strange and in abslute not what I expected to it must be. Then I noticed that if I reduce the leds bright it was much better, so I supposed there wre something about power supply of the MAX446. I powered the mic with 5v instead of the 3.3v taken from the ESP32 board, but the same problem appears again. The solution was to put a 1000uF 10v capacitor, now works prefect (power the mic with 5v).

ADC could not read most the FFT frequency

Firstly, great spectrum analyzer project !!!!

I did a circuit with the 2 x 10K and 2 x 100K to bais the voltage to 1.6V
Image here https://flic.kr/p/2ndwoTo

When I ran the freq sweep, I could not get all the freq, only a few freq responded like 4KHz to 10KHz , not the entire spectrum ...

Is it bcos my input is headphone out instead of line-out ?? I tried to max out the headphone volume, same results..

Any pointers on how to troubleshoot this ?

Thanks

My setup :

WS2812 8x32

I have done something similar for the Teensy 3.2 + Audio Board but this one would be a lower cost alternatives ...

8 Channel instead of 16

Hi Scott,
How are you?

Just a quick question please.
I have been playing around with FFT and the LED's for a few days and decided to replicate your design.
When running the 16x16 matrix, I have noticed that there are always 2 band per frequency. This seems to happen on each pattern.

I have confirmed the Num_bands are 16 and that the 16 band frequency table is being used.

If i'm not being 100% clear, I am unable to do a frequency sweep, with 1 bar at a time.

Let me know your thoughts.
Thanks so much
Damian

Adding a fade/tail to the peaks

Hi,
Thanks for all the great videos and code! Extremely helpful in a project I'm building (a massive LED matrix to go in a 'cat pub' fire place. ;) )

I've seen your videos about FastLED and fading out pixels. (like a tail)

But I'm struggling to work out how to do that with the peaks in the whitePeak() method.

Any clues? Or is it not possible?

Many thanks!

analog read time 10 times slower

Hello.

I'm trying to make an audio spectrum analizer displayed on LCD.
Using 1024 samples seems better for more than 10 bars, but fps goes down dramatically.
Reading your code, says each analog reading takes 9,8uS, but my tests says it's arround 84uS.
84uS * 1024 aprox. 100mS. It's 10 readings per second.

Looking your video and another one that uses your code, LEDs seems displaying fine, with good FPS.

Is there some change in new ESP32 versions?

88uS Conversion time:!!!

Hi and thanks for sharing this project, I'm having a strange issue! when I ran the sample test code on my esp32-wroom-32u the Conversion time was 88 uS and Max sampling frequency was 11388 Hz, and it takes 90 seconds to print the output! what am i missing here? clone or low quality board?
