When I try to open a non-existent file with FromFileObservable, I expect that the observable result in error, and nothing else.

Instead, I have the expected error and a PHP warning is output. This can lead to side effects: for example, PHPUnit uses an error handler that convert all warnings to exceptions.

Adding the error control operator (e.g. @) to the fopen() calls should fix this issue.
