Hi, there is no API in Ruma to handle the encryption or decryption of messages. You might be interested in the matrix-sdk-crypto crate for that, or even using the matrix-sdk crate that provides a high-level Matrix client that handles encryption automatically.

That might be (esp. if you're referring to download counts) because Ruma is used both by the Matrix SDK and server software like Conduit. For clients, Ruma is actually not used directly that much.
