The octave plot package has gone to unmanteined status, and is not included in recent distributions. Although it is available from octave repositories, it adds a foresseable complication in future octave installations or updates.

Removing the dependencie do not remove any functionality and will force the rewriting the plot routines in a more modern and sane fashion.
