html5tags's Introduction

Allows a couple of HTML5 tags such as figure/figcaption in MediaWiki

This is useful as long as https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23932 is not resolved.

Latest release

v0.3

Dependencies

MediaWiki 1.18

Installation

Add the following settings to your LocalSettings.php: require_once("$IP/extensions/HTML5Tags/HTML5Tags.php");

Changelog

  • 0.3
    • PHP 7 support (removes warning messages)
    • Fix duplicated aside hook
  • 0.2
    • Fixed aside that didn't work
    • Minor bugfixes
  • 0.1 First version

Known limitations

  • <section></section> will not work if the extension LabeledSectionTransclusion is installed
  • This extension doesn't really allow any new tags in the MediaWiki parser. Instead, it adds so called tag functions, that produces the same html output. Most of the time the resulting code will be exactly the same, but there might be some special cases where the output is not what you would have expected. A more technical explanation: The contents of these tags will not be run through Parser&#58;&#58;preSaveTransform, as Parser&#58;&#58;recursiveTagParse skips that step.
