When using a fixed number of segregating sites (-s flag), msnsam will return errors due to a memory allocation error unless the simulation with the largest s is listed first. For example, the command ./msnsam tbs 4 -s tbs -eN 0.25 0.05 < tbsfile will work fine with this tbsfile:

12  26
6   24

but will fail with this:

18  22
6   24
12  26
14  28
