hyper-pi's Issues

full disk encryption of device

Currently hyper-pi is very good and I get mine to work from these nice instructions :D
but I wonder that if user starts using for actual secure messaging and then loses device that is bad. Maybe we could add some instructions for how to do LUKS style full disk encryption of devices? It seems to be not too hard but tricky in some ways. Here are some links of what I find.

This one has a bunch of terminal commands to get it working. As one in comments points out this downside of approach outlined

"You need to manually re-create the initramfs-image after a new kernel is installed. ๐Ÿ™"

Other documented similar steps

(case) microSD-card slot unreliable

When trying to plug in the microSD-card using the sd-card-extender, it sometimes misses the slot on the Pi Zero, thus requiring multiple attempts.

document difficulties in procuring hardware

when I order the hardware pieces for this from the different websites there are some difficulties such as:

  • Adafruit restricts number of LiPo batteries that can be ordered to 3x
  • Adafruit does not ship to postboxes
  • Mouser can not ship LiPo batteries by air as they are in US store only
  • Mouser offers the 1000C for 4 EUR cheaper than Pimoroni

maybe would be helpful to document these sort of things?

3D printed cases for devices

I know this is being worked on by someone. I just opening an issue to keep track of this progress and for people to report their experiences and ideas.

what about automated building of this?

What do you think @ropg about offering an automated way to do whatever changes and modifications are agreed on for a finished device. I have some experience with Ansible and could try to make it work like this.

add suggested apps and configs

Due to small form factor and size of this device and fact that OS window manager is more optimized for desktop use we should offer list of suggested apps and configurations to make for best user experience.

  • mcabber - a terminal bassed XMPP chat client that uses ncurses
  • irssi - a terminal based IRC chat client that uses ncurses

These are only two I tried so far.
