When i want to watch Tagesschau via TagesschauXL entry it is only displayed in 480P standard quality. All other videos are automatically in 720p/1080p. Also the Tagesschau it self when i open it via "ARD Mediathek".

This behavior is there since half a year i would guess.

First of all thank you for this add-on, it's great to have access to all these content right from Kodi.

Now to the bug report. This happens with all the HBBTV links I tried so far (Bergretter, Traumschiff, etc.) but to give a concrete example: If you go to

since automated update yesterday, there is an info box shown while playing any livestream.
This box only vanishes after restart.

Some broadcasts like Extra 3, Quer, regional news are listed with both the complete broadcast and its parts.
That makes it rather difficult to watch the complete brodcast, which probably is the more common scenario.

Since even MediathekView is not really able to select the full broadcast, I assume the data just does not allow for that.
MediathekView allows to set a minimum length, so this may be a viable to solution: in Sort add Length as critierion.

Another idea would be to collect all broadcasts with a common title/theme at the same date/time, set the longest as top node and all the shorter ones as leaves of a second node

I just updated today from 4.6.0 to 4.6.1 on my LibreElec 9.2.8 (on a Pi4) and now this great addon shows me an empty window when opening the addon and for every further deeper navigation step. I can close the window with the ok button on my virtual remote, still it's a bit annoying. Any clue what's causing it?

I already uninstalled and reinstalled the addon. No success.

Wenn ich den Livestream von ZDF einschalte und zurückspule, bekomme ich eine etwas ungewöhnliche Zeitanzeige dargestellt: Es sieht so aus, als wenn der Ankerpunkt "03:00:00" ist, wenn ich 10 Minuten zurückspule, steht dort "02:50:00 / 03:00:00". Vermutlich liegt es daran, dass der Live-Stream immer 3h zurückreicht, aber das macht das Spulen an eine bestimmte Stelle sehr schwierig. Ein normaler Anwendungsfall ist wohl, dass man auf exakt 19:00 Uhr oder 20:15 Uhr spulen möchte - mit der Darstellung muss man dann rechnen. Ein zweiter Anwendungsfall ist, dass man zu einer bestimmten Stelle zurückgehen möchte. Das ist ohne Ausprobieren gar nicht möglich.

Using your fine kodi plugin (ARD, Startseite, ESC 2024, Finale in voller Länge) I can choose between two unnamed audio streams, but both include the Audio description (e.g. 2h40').
It should play the audio without description by default, at least optionally.

This is (at least currently/mostly) an issue of Kodi and you could close it.

Here we could discuss how this could be done, how interfacing Addon<->Kodi's Movies page (as well as the Series page and a Documentaries page that I proposed in the forums) could be done. It would also need various changes to the addon once it's possible in Kodi (like somehow setting genre tags for items in the media library).

It would be best and most useful and convenient if the addon showed media from the library alongside items from other addons and local files on the hard drive unified in the Movies/Series/Documentaries pages. This would make Kodi the ultimate media library/Mediathek...currently you need to decide if you'll either watch something from the media libraries in the addon or something else you added to the Kodi media center.

I think it would be best if one could configure the addon to automatically add all items in the Merkliste/watch-list to your Kodi pages. They would get removed from there once the media is no longer available for time-restricted items. It's important that items have the correct genre tag set (and I don't think that this info is currently retrieved by the scraper) so that for example documentaries don't clutter your fictional movies page but show up under your Documentaries view*. This also applies for series and I suggest that news broadcasts are added to Documentaries while series of fiction and and informative series of reports are added to Series.

*a current workaround until Kodi adds a separate Documentaries page is to add a filtered Movies view to your Favorites that filters out items of genre Documentary and another filtered movies view that only shows items with genre Documentary

Ich habe mein Kodi, aus verschiedenen Gründen, seit mehreren Wochen nicht mehr genutzt. Nach dem Update aller AddOns am Wochenende musste ich feststellen dass die TV-Livestreams nicht mehr funktionieren.

Nach ARDundZDF -> TV-Livesterams -> [was auch immer] ist Schluss.
Die CacheLinks werden noch aktualisiert aber danach passiert nichts mehr. Ein erneuter Klick auf z.B. Überregional führt nur wieder zu Cache IPTVlinks: wird erneuert.

Nach dem ich etwas mit den alten Versionen rumgespielt habe ist die letzte, für mich, funktionsfähige Version die 4.3.5. Alle neueren Version lassen sich aus dem zip heraus nicht mehr installieren wegen fehlendem Python 3 auf Kodi 9.2.8. Aus dem Repo heraus funktioniert das Update, die Mediatheken funktioniert dann auch noch, aber nicht mehr die Livestreams. Dies sind für mich aber für heute und Tagesschau sehr wichtig.

Die pngs sind aber vorhanden.

Mit dem Update auf 4.4.5 läuft das tolle Addon leider nicht mehr mit LibreElec 9.2.8. Der Fehler lautet:

Das manuelle Downgrade auf 4.4.4 lässt das Problem verschwinden.

Könnten Sie eine Option einführen das lästige Geoblocking ohne VPN zu umgehen durch setzen einer deutschen IP im X-Forward-For? Tools wie youtube-dl machen dies bereits automatisch bei ZDF:

Hello @rols1, first of all I want to thank you for this great addon! It's in daily use :)

As I'm using a skin (arctic fuse) which provides the content based on the content type, it would be great if you could add the content type to the submenus. Currently, as far as I understood in jurialmunkey/skin.arctic.fuse#462, the content type provided in my example is "none".

Kodi 19 (Matrix) has dropped Python v2.x (EOL) and uses Python 3.
The plugin requires Python 2 as a dependency.

zunächst vielen Dank für dieses Tolle Addon und die damit verbundene Arbeit!

Ich habe wirklich nur eine rein kosmetische Anfrage: Wenn man in den Mediatheken nach einer Sendung sucht und das Suchwort komplett mit den Funden übereinstimmt, wird es ja im Sendungstitel fett hervorgehoben. Bei der Übernahme in die Merkliste bleibt die fett-Formatierung erhalten und taucht dann so wieder in der Merkliste auf. Steht es z.B. am Anfang, sind die Einträge eingerückt und insgesamt bei einigen Einträgen wirkt es merkwürdig.

Könnte man das vielleicht bei Übernahme in die Merkliste normalisieren?

Since some days just and only "Das Erste" starts live-tv 2h back in time from the Überregional menu. Same problem on two quite different systems: Linux desktop (Arch) with Kodi 19.4 and Android TV 9 with Kodi 19.3. Both using add-on-version 4.4.0.

auf einem (aktuellen) Android-Tablet (Kodi Matrix) erscheint seit ein paar Tagen bei LiveTV der Sender ZDFinfo statt ZDF, - obwohl EPG die Daten von ZDF in der Übersicht richtig voranzeigt. De- und Reinstallation des Addons hat nicht geholfen. Es wurde auch "Links werden erneuert" eingeblendet; also alles wie üblich.

Gleiches Fehlverhalten tritt übrigens auch bei einer komplett frischen Installation von Kodi (Matrix) und Addon auf einem LineageOS-Gerät auf.

Möglicherweise habe ich die Einstellung dafür übersehen, aber ist es möglich die Kodi Standardansicht zu verwenden bei der in der Liste keine Thumbnails angezeigt werden, sondern ein Kreis/Häckchen? Oder ist es überhaupt möglich zu markieren was man bereits gesehen hat? Das wäre für mich ein sehr wichtiges Feature und wenn das derzeit nicht möglich ist betrachtet dies bitte als Feature Request.

Insgesamt aber ein wirklich gut gemachtes Add-On, vielen Dank dafür.

Today I got an automated update of the Addon based on the Kodi-Nerds Repo I am using.
Now i have the latest version 2.8.3 of the add-on installed in the my kodi Kodi 18.6 and I receive the following error:

"ARDUndZDF: The add-on is not compatible with this version of Kodi"

I am not able to enable the add-on any longer.

Kodi Log says:
ERROR: Add-on 'plugin.video.ardundzdf' is not compatible with Kodi
ERROR: CAddonInstallJob[plugin.video.ardundzdf]: failed to reload addon
ERROR: Add-on 'plugin.video.ardundzdf' is not compatible with Kodi

Please let me know what additional information you need to fix this problem.

auf meinem Odroid N2+ gibt es beim Nutzen des Livestrams von Das Erste in kurzen Abständen immer wieder Dropouts (Bild- und Tonaussetzer), unabhängig von der gewählten Auflösung oder Framerate. Dazu konnte ich beobachten dass die CPU-Last kurz vorher immer ruckartig ansteigt und nach dem Dropout wieder zurückgeht. Dieses Verhalten tritt nur bei diesem Stream auf, alla anderen (ZDF, ARTE, usw.) laufen auch bei 1080p flüssig. Eine Vermutung wäre das Speichermanagement des Streams (vielleicht wg. Rückspulfunktion?), welches sich offenbar verändert hat. Im Beispiel läuft das Vidoe im Hintergrund und im Vordergrund erscheinen die Systeminformationen mit Monitoring von CPU und Speicher.

This is the best Kodi add-on for German-language public media and the ones in the Kodi repositories are far less usable, less convenient, have more bugs and often don't work at all.

It would be very useful if it was added to the default Kodi repos so people can easily find it and don't install less-functional add-ons instead.

Then the media library addons currently in there should get removed for these reasons (ARD Mediathek, ZDF Mediathek, 3sat Mediathek, etc). They should also be removed from https://kodi.tv/addons/matrix/category/video-addons (edit: and from here & here for example, or at least a note should be added). The description for the ARDundZDF should however get changed so that people know which channels are supported and can find it in searches (mainly within Kodi). Related issue: sarbes/script.module.libzdf#4

It should also be in the repos of the Kodi version in Debian stable (11) which is v19.1 (Matrix). Having it in the repos there prevents problems with version mismatches and allows easy installation. The addon version that works with it is the latest code .zip file (v4.3.4+matrix).

Moreover, it would be good if this addon was recommended to users if the configured language is German (but this is a separate issue and more an issue of Kodi to enable addon-recommendations [via popup and based on settings] within Kodi).

Thanks for reenabling Issues in this repo and for helping out in the forums: it can be installed in Debian11 when the .zip file of the source is installed instead of the version from the releases (sha256sum is 00f2b49321174b6d169ba149c3ac1fa902a7d9cdb7cecbe6a9c86e2176521aad).

Can you make your Code compatible with up-to-date Python Versions? Unfortunatly your Addon is using Python 2, which is dead and incompatible with current Kodi Versions.

The favorite list (Merkliste) is unable to handle special characters properly. An example for this is the ZDF show PUR+. If you add any part of the show to your favorites, the + character is missing. This prevents the entry from being removed from the list again. You have to navigate to where you added the entry from and remove it from there.

While playing a playing a broadcast, subtitles are displayed.
Downloading the broadcast instead, subtitles are not downloaded nor displayed as separate download.

Gives the following error message:

CAddonInstallJob[plugin.video.ardundzdf]: The dependency on xbmc.python version 2.25.0 could not be satisfied.

Installed from the downloaded zip file.

There is no subtitle in live stream, although I can choose to enable subtitle and choose subtitle stream. For example for Das Erste, there is subtitles in the website's live stream, but not available in Kodi through this add-on.

Habe das Gefühl, dass diese KODI auch zum Abstüzen bringen, was seitdem scheinbar willkürlich auftritt - kann aber auch der TMDB Helper sein.
Kannst Du da was machen?

ist es möglich Videos mit Altersbeschränkung anzusehen? In der Ard-Mediathek App funktioniert das glaub ich nur mit einem Account und einer hinterlegten Pin.

Sorting is only asc or desc, but by what criterion is sorted, is not clear.
The obvious would be date, but that seems not to be the case nor the title.

Plausible criteria would be

• Date
• Length (I'll file a feature request with details)
• Title
• Channel

When trying to install version 4.3.0 of the add-on from zip, Kodi 19.4 complains about The dependent xbmc.python version 2.25.0 could not be satisfied.

Whenever I open the ARD or ZDF Live-streams through this addon I have no audio, even though multiple audio streams are available. The Video OSD shows a questionmark where the audio line is supposed to be indicated. Only when I change the audio line manually then I'm hearing the audio.

I'm using Kodi 20 on AndroidTV (Nvidia Shield Pro 2019).

erst einmal vielen Dank für dieses tolle Plugin. Es funktioniert als 1. Plugin einmal so, wie es soll :)

Jetzt zum Fehler:
Auf meinem Android-TV mit KODI Matrix (Addon Version 3.9.1) funktioniert der Download in ein (per Kodi) eingebundes Samba-Share leider nicht. Daher ist am TV der Download leider nicht nutzbar, da das Android TV natürlich nicht soviel Platz bietet.

Fehlermeldung:
test_downloads: Downloads nicht möglich
Downloadverzeichnis existiert nicht
Settings: smb://xxx:xxx@stor01/KODI/Downloads

Leider kann ich mir in dem Android TV auch nicht mit Symlink oder ähnlichem abhelfen. Ich gehe davon aus, dass Downloads nur in lokale Pfade unterstützt sind, richtig?

Having to do a lot of clicking and waiting to start watching content in the media libraries is very inconvenient, it would be great if view-settings were stored and automatically selected when you select a content instead of e.g. having to click ->Streaming sources->one of the sources.

This setting could get changed in the settings. Things could remain as is at first but show a popup asking the user something like "Set this as default view-setting?" in a prompt that's shown once the stream has started.

One could also add functionality to detect streaming-quality issues such as buffering or unnecessarily low video-quality settings to show a prompt asking for a change to the default setting. But that's probably far too advanced for now and would be a separate issue.

Every click takes quite a while to load and this is currently the main problem I found in the addon itself.
