8-26-2022 Intro Python, Jupyter, Fastpages Hacks ๐Ÿฅถ

  1. I utilized input, output, data structures, iteration, conditional statements, imports, and functions to create a quiz about factoring polynomials with Python
  2. I used input, output, conditional statements, iteration, data structures, and a variety of commands to verify the proper installation and configuration of some of the required tools with Bash
  3. For the extra credit, I customized the homepage using animations in javascript, added my notes from other classes using .docx files, and linked a vocab page with terms and definitions

Hacks

  • CPT Scoring 2
    • Even though programs are relatively basic, if they are explained and described effectively, points are awarded; however, if the program is more technically complex but the explanation is inadequate, points will be deducted. Formatting of CPT seems to be the most crucial factor. It could be advisable to develop a simpler application and focus more on correctly checking the boxes that CollegeBoard demands for the CPT, and if time is available, extra complexity can be added as time permits. Understanding seems to be evaluated, so it may be in your best interests to do so. The distinction between function and goal, which CPT seems to be very specific about, needs to be addressed very clearly as well as maintaining consistency in the elements provided and used, such as just
  • Model and OOP Hacks
    • Within the same Jupyter notebook cell, I worked on the OOP hacks and that of my project. For my project, the Driver classes will be created for each from the formula one API. To demonstrate this, I made a get request and used iteration to store each driver within a Driver object. I made sure to include redundancy code to avoid any poor request errors. Then, I added comments and dislikes to prove the use of those functions
  • PBL Frontend CRUD Implementation
    • Within my front end code, the user is able to search up a F1 driver, if the input text matches a driver, then the 2nd container will show up where it will display the statistics. The like/dislike buttons and comments are where I implement CRUD. Comments are CREATED by the user, the name and body of each comment is READ by database, the comments can be UPDATED by entering a comment with the same name, and the comments can be deleted by the user on the frontend.

Extra

  • Something that I worked on over the long weekend was redesigning my fastpages site as to better learn to apply CSS. It originally used a black and green color pallet, hence the images of linux terminals in the blog below that states what I learned.

Week 17 Review Ticket

  • Reunion Project Ideation
    • Since we are working with an API, features applying iteration, lists, and procedural abstraction are common. I will be creating an algorithm to efficiently and effectively search through the lists of drivers from the Formula One API. It can be optimized by calling and applying functions.

Hacks

  • Model/DB Hacks
  • API Hacks
    • Our project, Jamal's Stats is unique in its backend code because of our implementation of an API. Instead of creating instances of each class through post requests, instances of each class are created with each result from the f1 API. Hence, I implemented post, put, delete, and get through use of comments, likes, and dislikes. The user CREATEs (Posts) a comment, the user can READ (Get) data from the formula 1 API that is stored within our database, the user can UPDATE (put) the likes and dislikes of a driver, and the user can DELETE (Delete) a comment.

Hacks

Progress

  • As scrum master, I mainly worked on setting up template code and boilerplate for my other teammates to refer to. I created the SvelteKit project, initialized tailwind created the Firebase project, and finally set up user auth and the landing page. These features are the bare minimum. Below are images of the two.

To Do's

  • Set up project with VITE to hide API keys
  • Teach others how to interact with the database
  • Show the point of Svelte components and refactor the sign up & login page with Ryan

Week #13 Review Ticket

Hacks

  • I customized Mort's binary code calculator using Liquid, HTML, and javascript
  • I ensured the proper installation of my tools using a more advanced bash script that implements iteration and dictionaries.
  • I logged a bunch of my installations in a blog to ensure their proper integration.
