flyphotos's Issues

High memory usage on Windows 11

I was comparing the Fly and Picasa image viewers and noticed two issues with Fly. The first one is that it consistently uses over 200 MB of RAM, and even exceeds 300 MB while opening HEIC format images. Additionally, opening HEIC images takes around 5-10 seconds in my case. At the same time, the viewer itself is good but heavy.

Suggestions: Add the ability to scroll through images using mouse wheel

Just bought a new Laptop, and tried this out since Picasa is behaving weird on Windows 11.

Fly is pretty close to Picasa, but it's missing out on some minor (and yet key) features:

  1. You can zoom with the mouse wheel on the image in Picasa. This is the same here, however, in Picasa if you hover your mouse down when the image preview strip becomes visible, you can scroll through the images using the same mouse wheel. This is being sorely missed on Fly

  2. You can double click on the outside area to change the image display from full screen to window mode. However, if you double click the darkened border area again, you cannot go back to full screen mode like you can in Picasa.

I sincerely request you to add these features in and it will be the perfect Picasa replacement

Transparent Background not working

The transparent background feature doesn't seem to work for me as can be seen here:

My system:

Windows 11 23H2 22631.2361
GPU: Geforce RTX 4070

Wallpaper handled by Wallpaper Engine if that influences anything.

Bug: Right-clicking a picture doesn't invoke the right-click context menu

As requested I'm opening a bug report as Fly doesn't open a context-menu when right-clicking a picture for me. No matter what I do or on which file I try it on nothing happens. Right-clicking next to the picture makes Fly go windowed as intended.

I'm using Fly 2.2.0 and Windows 11 23H2 22631.3593 and this feature never worked for me.

After updating to 1.01 FlyPhotos doesn't open anymore

No matter if I try to launch it directly or try to open an image, FlyPhotos doesn't open anymore. It does not show up in Task Manager either and there's no error message. I'm using the version without .NET Runtime included and version 1.0 works fine. A reinstall didn't help sadly. My Windows version is Windows 11 Pro 23H2 Build 22631.2428. Are there any log-files I can submit to help?
