Versioning

Do we need something different than version = "X.Y" ?

It probably should be just version = "X"

Discover version-manifests without explicit linking ?

Currently we need to link from the project manifest to version release manifests in order to discover "releases"

  1. GitHub does not provide "auth free" API to discover releases / artefacts w/o Personal Access Token (PAT)

  2. The "auth free" API only allows 60 reqs per IP per minute hour I think and that doesn't scale for this

  3. Requiring PAT would be too much friction for usability

  4. jsDelivr Directory listing is HTML which may change

  5. There seems no reliable way to "discover" versions (manifests) or GitHub releases reliably w/o PAT | manifest

On other hand we can externally link to version manifests (a niche feature)

It would be nice if we can just discover all the releases without churning versions manifests every time a release happens.

Is there a way ? Who knows. Needs research.
