amepd's Issues

Hyphenated Pronunciation

Hi.

Should this hyphen be included in this pronunciation? This is the only time I have seen anything like this.

THRENOS TH R IY1 - N AA0 S

amepd license

Hi Reece,

I was reviewing the licence of each mimic file and I either I did not find the license terms for the amepd dictionary or they are vague enough to pose problems from a legal point of view. I found this amepd license terms:

Use of this dictionary for any research or commercial purpose is completely
unrestricted. If you make use of or redistribute this material, we would
 appreciate acknowlegement of its origin.

On the other hand cmudict 0.7 (amepd is based on that as far as I know) has the following license:

Note that the amepd license does not give permissions for any use other than research or commercial purposes (these two are the only purposes considered in the license). Would you consider using the BSD-2 license as the cmudict does?

Entries with more than one primary stress marker

Maybe you are already aware of this, but there are a lot of words (about 1000 it seems) that have more than one primary stress marker. For example "duration":

DURATION D UH1 R EY1 SH AX N

For this word, other dictionaries like this: https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/duration or this: https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/duration only show the second syllable with primary stress. So it should be D UH0 R EY1 SH AX N.

On the other hand there are also words like "alongside":

ALONGSIDE AX L AO1 NG S AY1 D

where for example this dictionary: http://www.learnersdictionary.com/definition/alongside agrees that both the second and the third syllable should have primary stress. Presumably because in a sense it's actually two words that are written as one. So, it's not as simple as saying all double primary stress entries are wrong.

I actually started going through all those entries to de-duplicate the primary stress but when I saw how many there are, I gave up. What do you think about this? (Maybe the stress markers are not that important to you, which I could totally understand.)

Free viewer/search tool for AmEPD

Thank you very much for releasing AmEPD! I really like this dictionary, and I've developed software for exploring it (along with CMUdict). It also supports searching by pronunciation and very simple wildcard matching. Anyone is welcome to use it. I apologize for posting this as an issue, but I couldn't find any better way.
