sustainable-green-plants's Issues

NTP integration

Instead of using the reset button to set 20:00 would recommend if theirs memory available to integrate NTPclient to pull the real time, especially since the D1 already has wifi, i mean you can leave the reset and on boot 20:00 but would be cool if the NTPclient synced everything, especially once you move to modular and have perhaps multiple sensors all synced.

Run and document the usage of the first iteration of the Basic kit.

Use the Basic kit and "stress test" it by having dirt as plant holders and light blocker. Run the pump more than needed to stay at max pressure. Don't change the reservoir but simply add water and more nutrients as the levels decrease. Let the plants drink all the liquid in the reservoir and let it dry run for a few days to see how fast the plants take damage and if they can come back after a few days of "dry running".

Basic kit - Electronics

As a developer, I would like to build the electronics part of the basic kit.

Suggestion: Document in the wiki where to buy and how-to build the electronics part of the Basic kit.

Getting started guide for arduino/wemos software

As a user, I would like to get step-by-step instructions of how to download and install the software on my Arduino UNO with windows.

Suggestion: Document in the wiki how-to download and install the software on the arduino uno from windows 10. This should probably involve a link to how to download and install Arduino IDE on windows as well.

Try perlite as plant fixating media

Aluminum balls are tedious to make from aluminum foil and it has been observed that it gets discolored when in contact with liquids, so using something else would be preferable.

Perlite seems to have the characteristics that we would like to try it out.

Software

The current software is just a Prof of concept (POC) to get development going. Now that we know a lot more we would like to design the software so that we can facilitate integration with other project.

For example:

  • Home assistant, nice to be able to get all the data into it and control everything from a computer or smart phone.
  • Grafana for graphing and data analysis.
  • Local food nodes for buying and selling local produce.

Writing the new software could also make it easier for people to add their own sensors, automation rules etc.

Basic kit - Irrigation

As a developer, I would like to be able to build the irrigation part of the basic aeroponics kit.

Suggestion: Document in the wiki where to buy and how-to build the irrigation part of the Basic kit.
