Grid column filtering is something that LabKey implemented in their extension of Ext.grid.EditorGridPanel called LABKEY.ext.EditorGridPanel. You could use that instead of Ext.grid.EditorGridPanel - although that introduces some other complications in how you handle the grid's column model and implement grid reloading.

For the last project I worked on, I customized the Ext.grid.Panel of Ext JS 4 to use a user-contributed column filtering plugin called Ext.ux.grid.FilterBar:

I was able to get into the Atlas to check out the filterBar, I like that, wonder if it exists for Ext3 (or if starting to migrate to Ext4 is a good idea) - we should show this today during the meeting.

I like the 'skinny' custom scrolling bar - how can I enable the same kind for my grids, do you know @selangley?

• remove NOT NULL for x_key, y_key, x_axis, y_axis ?
• add a boolean column which would indicate whether the population is terminal or not
• create tables for axes (and populations?)

It would be ideal

1. to "truncate" the text via the ellipsis (need to do some calculations) and
2. to display the full text in a QuickTip, while hovering over the cut off text
