Backspace doesn't respect utf8 characters. For example, if a user writes "rødgrød" and presses backspace 4 times the resulting password is "rødg" and not "rød".

When ctrl-a is pressed it is treated as a part of the password. I think the fix can be found in a previous revision.

From the man page:

The function Xutf8LookupString is an extension introduced by The XFree86 Project, Inc. in their 4.0.2 release. Its presence is indicated by the macro X_HAVE_UTF8_STRING.

For example, the character é is produced by pressing "´" followed by e on danish keyboard layout.

It is possibly because of the XSync(dpy, False) call or because XFilterEvent is never called.
