z97x-ud5h's Issues

iCloud Doesn't Work

Fixing iCloud is system-specific, so I won't be posting my fixes publicly. However, the process is well-known and seems pretty straightforward. See TonyMac for more info.

Spotlight Indexing Broken

Spotlight broke since I directly upgraded to Sierra. This is a known Sierra issue. I've tried forcing it to reindex files, but that didn't help.

So if you value searching for stuff, please do a clean install.

Transmit FTP soft-freezes install

Transmit soft-freezes the computer for a few seconds every time you connect or start manipulating files on the server. However, Forklift 3 has no such issues. And it seems just as good.

Clover Configurator v5 Freezes Machine

After upgrading to the latest version of Clover and Clover Configurator, I noticed CC will freeze my machine every 10 seconds when the window is in focus. I'm gonna downgrade to the previous version.

Lightroom CC Causes Force Reboot in High Sierra

How to Reproduce

  1. Open up Lightroom Classic CC in High Sierra.
  2. In about 15-20 seconds, your machine will force reboot

I'm not sure what causes this yet. I'm guessing this has something to do with using an nVidia graphics card. Ughhh....

iPhoto Causes Reboot Loop

Do not, I repeat, do NOT open iPhoto. It seems as though the facial recognition feature on it is causing crashes on this particular motherboard. It automatically reboots Mac OS X within a minute of booting and never stops.

Of course, I didn't know this beforehand...so did load iPhoto. Here's the steps I took to break out of that reboot loop:

  • Booted into Recovery HD from Clover
  • Opened up Terminal and renamed all iPhoto Libraries
  • Removed the iPhoto Photo Analysis Launch Agent from /System/Library/LaunchAgents:
    rm -rf com.apple.photoanaysisd.plist
  • Rebooted and ran successfully for 20 minutes. It was previously rebooting within a minute of logging in. I'll repost here after more testing.

Note: you will have to know some basic Terminal commands to do all this. Just don't want to get into the nitty-gritty at the moment. Not even sure if anyone's reading this : P

Chrome, Sierra, and Gmail are bitter enemies

Chrome, Sierra, and Gmail do not seem to like each other. They crash the browser every time. Strange thing is, Vivaldi works perfectly. And it's based on the Chromium engine as well. So, yeah...
