Getting Started

To build Resonance Audio apps with Unreal Engine, you must use the version of Unreal Engine with ResonanceAudio plugin integrated. For more information, see the Get Started with Resonance Audio for Unreal developer guide.

Can not enable "ambisonic" effect in Resonance audio unreal plugin (Unreal 4.25,4.26)

Hi all,

I can not enable "ambisonic" effect in in Resonance audio unreal plugin (For Unreal 4.25,4.26)

I does not hear the ambisonic effect by my test.

Please let me know if my steps are wrong

Here is my step:

Step1: Enable Resonance audio plugin in unreal and import a ambisonic audio file on the Map

Step2: Create a "soundfield submix"

Step3: In soundfield submix, select "Resonance Binaural" in "Soundfield Encoding Format"
ResonanceSoundSubmix

Step4: Select "Resonance soundfield submix" on "sound wave file detail setting"
ResonanceSoundWaveAttenuation

Step5: Create a "SoundAttenuation" and enable Spatialization in the Attenuation Settings.
AttenuationSetting

Step6: Select soundfield submix on "sound wave file detail setting"
ResonanceSoundWaveAttenuation

Step7: Play the Map

Result: There is no ambisonic effect

Current state of UE4 development

Hello,

Since Resonance is now an open source effort and not developed by Google directly (at least that's my understanding), I was wondering, what is its current development status? Are developers needed to ensure its future survival? The UE4 version has stopped development at 4.19. I've had successfully changed the 4.19 Resonance source parts to build and work with 4.21 and 4.22. I was wondering if somehow these changes get included in this repo maybe Epic would be more inclined to update the included version? (currently stock at 1.0 since long time). Also, I was wondering if a standalone version of the plugin could be developed that doesn't require to build the whole engine. I'm willing to look into doing that but first (and for the sake of time efficiency) I wanted to ask here to get some advise from the developers.

I've worked with spatial audio for long time and I appreciate the developers' effort and the acoustic quality of Resoance. I hope it can remain alive!

Cheers,

Hector

Resonance Audio effects do not work in game packaged for Windows

I have a project with room effects and Ambisonics sound files played with Resonance Audio. It works well when I play it in the editor, but when I package it for Windows no Resonance Audio effects work. The binaural synthesis does not work, instead the sources are just panned left/right. No room effects are added. The Ambisonics sound files are played, but the sound field is not rotated depending on the player orientation. I don't get any error messages, the game runs properly, all sounds are played, but without any Resonance Audio effects. Any suggestions about what's wrong?

I use UE4.21, but I have the same issue with UE4.19

Baked reflections

From reading the documentation I get that baked reflections are not implemented in UE4 but only in Unity. If this is correct, are there any plans of adding this to UE4 soon?

Thanks.

Visualization crashes Unreal Editor 4.25.3

Two crashes related to attenuation visualization:

  1. Create new project and enable plugin (I used First Person template)
  2. Place empty actor.
  3. Add audio component.
  4. Set any sound, override attenuation, add Resonance spatialization settings to Attenuation Plugins on object.
  5. Enable Visualization on spatialization settings.
  6. Start Play-In-Editor
  7. Exit PIE

Result: crash

Second crash:

Follow above steps 1-5
6. Disable visualization

Result: Crash

Plugin sounds great, but critical functionality crashes the editor.
