I agree this is somewhat relevant, but this is primarily about binding the query string to state when we are NOT refreshing the page. Example, as you're adjusting catalog grid filters, we're updating the query string so that you'll see the same filtered view if refreshing or sharing that link.

So I would try to decouple these ideas since the larger routing project is about what happens when switching between pages while this issue is about tracking state in the URL while on a single page.
