zonestamp's Introduction

ZoneStamp!

ZoneStamp is a timezone converter for online events. It's simple, modern, and easy to use.

https://zonestamp.com

If you run online events with an audience located across different timezones, ZoneStamp makes it easy to create a "Stamp" for the date and time the event will be happening, then send the link for that stamp to your audience. When clicked, the ZoneStamp will automatically show the user what time the event will be happening in their timezone.

ZoneStamp is great for emails - instead of listing three different timezones that don't cover your whole audience, just list one and provide the link to the Stamp.

Also, it's free! Thanks for using ZoneStamp!

zonestamp's Issues

Time zone is off when selecting non-default zone

Thanks for this tool!
I tried using it just now, for a time in UTC (not my own time zone). The URL it generated nonetheless said it would be at that (UTC) time in my time zone (several hours off.)

Once it's fixed, I'll be delighted to use it and spread the word!

English only?

Please provide support for other languages.
E.g. your tool is used in international Wikimedia wikis (such as MetaWiki) which are fully internationalized.

You should allow selecting a relevant language (you can use CLDR data to do that in many languages, and can use language preference of the browser, but should still provide a way to select the language, and possibly keep it in a cookie, or allow the language code to be selected in the URL, so that other translated sites can directly show the correct language, and possibly a choice of relevant timezone; yuou may optionally geolocation to select the timezone, but anyway you should still support the selection of a relevant timezone: here again CLDR data offers great info you can reuse, mapping languages to countries and timezones, in order to customize the selector and allow easy selection from a list ordered by relevance; you may as well collect some statistics for relevant languages/countries/timezones that will simplify the selection).

Note that collecting data from the browser may be locked or restricted by privacy settings, so let the user choose and make sure you respect the common privacy rules (especially in Europe where this is required by the RGPD and enforced by national laws). Don't assume that the browser will deliver you the info freely (even if the berowser supports it, it may be locked by security tools; ask the user when needed, let him choose).

Daylight Savings Time (DST) handling

When trying to create a zonestamp for an Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) event ( -04:00 UTC ) only Eastern Standard Time ( -05:00 ) options are presented for the zone entered.

Thank you for your work!

ical export of shown event

It'd be very handy to offer an ical file for download of the current event so that I can easily import it into my preferred calendaring tool.
