Two things at once leading to some confusion I guess. Backed up to my previous Debian 8.x / 4.9.x image, but built with the latest push and I get the same thing. So I guess the issue is that last push regarding ALSA (1.8.7-999). So I am back running squeezelite.1.8.6-977

Other than the log message, was there any problems with the sound. What hardware are you playing to on your wandboard?

I think this is related to an update, perhaps alsa. I updated an Odroid C1 running squeezelite 1.8.7-999 on ubuntu 16.04.2, to ubuntu 16.04.3 and the log was spammed with the same error, so I had to back squeezelite to 1.8.6-977 on the new ubuntu release. Two different DACs, two different OSs, albeit both Debian based. The spam to the log is not manageable, not even sure if it succeeded in opening the port. I'm in the process of getting Arch linux on a UP2 board, so will report if behaviour is different on that platform.

I can recreate the error message, I just don't normally run logging, so the error condition was not seen, and sound works as expected.

No reason to do a bunch of testing. It is related the the last patch in v999. You can just turn off logging, there is really no reason to have it on, unless you have a problem you are trying to diagnose. When the log message is generated, it is because the output queue is empty anyway. We are looking at a small change to correct all of the extra log messages created.

Please try and confirm commit 68770e4 from Paul fixes this issue.
