smrender's Issues

Draw in relations

I'd like to draw in a primary waterway, like a river, and large land areas, like a county or state. Is drawing inside a relation possible?

In the basemap rules file, this does not appear to have any effect:

<relation>
<tag k='waterway' v=''/>
<tag k='_action_' v='draw:color=blue;bcolor=black'/>
</relation>

libsmfilter.so: No such file or directory

hmm, I think the latest release is too old, to get it running on Debian 9.4

Since the documentation seems very outdated it was a pain to find all the packages to get smrender even to compile

however, no matter what I try, I always get:
could not open library: libsmfilter.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

However, the lib is there: /usr/local/lib/libsmrender.so (symlinked to libsmrender.so.0.1.0)

The next issue: The examples in the documentation are outdated. Broken links and wrong information.

I guess this project was given up long long time ago - Does anyone know a similar tool to create your own seacharts?

Captions on ways (polylines)

According to doc captions on ways (polylines) are not supported yet:

smrender/doc/smrender.html

Lines 1015 to 1018 in 9559551

<b>Captions on ways&nbsp;&nbsp;</b> are handled a little bit different from captions
on nodes. Actually, captions on ways (polylines) are not supported yet but
captions on areas (closed polygons) are supported very well, although it is still
in development.

Is there any workaround to get captions on ways? Or is it planned to support?

Tile option

Hi,
I was trying to use Smrender to generate PNG tiles in order to use them on a "navigator". So I changed the rules ad at the beginning all seems to work fine. But then, when I start looking to the various tiles, I noticed that as the zoom increases the details remain the same, you are only zooming the A4/A0 map. So I don't understand from the Documentation if this is the wanted behaviour or if the tiling mode should output a tiling map like Mapnik where by zooming you have more details.

Another issue I noticed, is that even with the "How To" example in the Documentation when processing higher zoom tiles like 18-20, the process ends giving a message "killed"
