RX 480 Black Screen in Installer

Hi,
I am trying to install Catalina 10.15.5 on my PC, specs below. I have an RX 480 and when booting into the installer, after the apple logo bar gets to about two thirds, the screen goes black. My TV is still getting a signal. I have also tried with my monitor which works with my Mac mini, to be sure its not the tv. The same happens with verbose mode, and I have tried lots of boot args, patches, eat that I have seen online. The only semi-success I have had is when I left the PC for about an hour whilst I was elsewhere, and when I returned the PC was I sleep mode, when I turned it back on, the installer was displaying on the screen but the keyboard and mouse wouldn't work. Any help would be great.

SPECS:
P8P67 PRo Rev.3
i5 2500K
RX 480
16GB DDR3 1600 RAM

RX 580 is not showing correct framebuffer.

Hi,

I have similar specs like yours - ASUS P8P67 PRO Mainboard with an Intel Core i7 2600K Processor and 16GB RAM. A GeForce GTX 710 and Radeon RX 580 graphics card. Both the cards are detected, but I am getting output from GTX 710 only.

Screenshot 2020-09-27 at 12 30 49 PM

For RX 580, it should show FrameBuffer as Orinoco, I tried multiple ways, but still I am not able to figure out. How did you manage to run RX 570?

It would be a great, If I get any help on this.

Thanks in Advance.

Trying on a ASUS p8p67 LE edition

Hi from Spain.
I'm trying my first hackingtosh on my old Asus p8p67 LE edition. That's important, not PRO or EVO editions.

https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8P67_LE/specifications/

I've just installed with unibeast/multibest but no ethernet card is detected. I know one of the main differences between PRO and LE editions is the lan driver. The mine one is a Realtek 8111e.
I've tried some versions of multibeast kext driver, but it's not detected.
Do you think if I copy all your EFI folder and change the lan driver would be detected?

I've also another problem with graphics card. Detects my ATI Radeon HD 5770, but resolution shown is 1280x1024.. my actual monitor supports 1650x1050. I've just update this value in one section via Clover configurator, but nothing happens.
Any help would be appreciated.
I read everything I can.
Tks.

Installer gets stuck on Apple Logo

Hi Rafael - first of all I must thank you for generously posting your setup and instructions here. I happen to have a Hackintosh very similar to your setup:

ASUS P8P67 PRO,
i7-2700K,
XFX RX570,
32gb 1600ghz ram.

BIOS is P8P67-PRO-ASUS-3602.ROM

It has been working well with Yosemite for years and is mostly used as a DAW (not with the XFX though, which isn't properly recognised by my Yosemite setup).

I believe I have followed your instructions faithfully, and copied your EFI folder to my clover bootloader.

The Catalina installer was made from the latest download at the Apple Store.

Unfortunately the installer blocks on the the Apple logo, without the progress bar. I am attaching a photo of my verbose screen. I'm sure you must be busy, but if the solution is something simple I would greatly appreciate your help and hopefully be able to repay your kindness. Thanks, Aidan

Unable to boot from SSD

I was able to install MacOS. Everything is working ok but the only issue is that I am unable to boot from the SSD. I moved my EFI from the USB to the SSD EFI partition but the bios does not find it.

Can i install catalina on my ASUSTeK model: P8P67 v: Rev 1.xx ?

Kernel cache crash

Have seen this mentioned in the troubleshooting section of the readme but with no further info. I have followed the guide letter for letter, but install crashes on boot with this eroor or occasionally seed related error. Have tried various versions of Aptio fix with no joy, have also tried unibeaat Uefi or legacy boot version as well all have crashed out the same way. Any further info anyone can offer..

P8P67 Deluxe

Hi Rafael,

I was able to create the bootable drive following the steps you provided but I can never get it to boot via the EFI disk. It flashes and then I just get a blinking screen. I tried from another computer and it does seem to show the bootloader. I'm thinking there might be some special setting in the BIOS I am missing. Can you provide me with any additional information as to debug this issue?

The only change I made to the bios was to disable VT-d.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks again,

here you are. Use this for the internal usb 3.0 controller that it works up to catalina. Can't find a way to make it work on big sur unfortunately. I can see it loaded in ioreg but doesn't work

Bigsur 11.3 Sound not Work

Hello rafaelmaeuer Thank you for the EFI files P8P67 DELUXE Working perfectly

When I have updated Bigsur 11.3 , I found that the sound is not working. VoodooHDA did not respond. I have tried to fix it but it doesn't work at all.

What about Big Sur?

Hello!
Do you try to install Big Sur on P8P67?
My attempts were unsuccessful with Clover and Opencore.

P8Z68 10.15 Sidecar support

It is said that sidecar need HD Graphics Card.
My Card HD4000 (i7-3770), Your Card HD2500 (i7-2600k) both been support by Hackintosh
So how to enable both HD Graphics and standlone Graphics Card?

Question: How to make rx570 run stable

Hi there, I have a ASUS P8P67 motherboard and a i7-2600 processor. My power is 450 watts and the bios version is 3602. I plugged in a rx470d and run the furmark. Unfortunately, it ended with a balck screen and huge noise of the card fans in just one and a half minutes.
I wonder if there has something todo with the motherboard or it’s just my card’s own poor condition that caused it.

MacOS not booting from SSD

I followed every step from your list. I managed to install it and start it just fine, BUT I could not manage to boot it from SSD. After the installation was completed, using the fresh os I followed the steps for creating a bootable UEFI USB, but this time for the SSD. In the and I can see the EFI folder from the SSD, bot in the BIOS I can't find my SSD, only may UEFI USB.
If you need more information let me know.
Thanks!

the copy is damaged and can't be used to install MacOS.

Hello, thank you very much for the EFI you provided. I downloaded and installed it on my p8h67, e31220, geforce GT 730. The system image is Big Sur 11.2 and the boot is OpenCORE. It has entered the installation interface, but the copy is damaged and cannot be used to install MacOS. What's the problem with me? Can you help me? thank you

asmedia again!

Yes, the mXHCD.kext didn't work on Big Sur. Yesterday I tried a lot of things and nothing (genericUSBXHCI.kext too... I think there is a way to rebuild this kext with the last SDK but I can't do it), it's a shame because as you can see in the ioreg screenshot the kext is loaded.

I found that only this two kext below (from caldigit) make it work on Big Sur (11.6.2) but it gives me random kernel panic until yesterday when I found a guy on a german hackintosh site that said that disabling the kext IOPCIFamily.kext in S/L/E "solve the problem"... now, I don't know if this kext is essential for something else but indeed work... I have to do some other tests but for now it work. if you want to give this a try and see if it crashes on you too (without modify S/L/E), let me know here thanks
